As everyone knows, there are 2 primary factors that go into preparing for an upcoming opponent. Those are recognizing and improving your teams strengths/weaknesses and recognizing and exploiting an opponent's strengths/weaknesses.

The question I put forth is...does your team's coaching staff emphasize one over the other on either offense or defense ?

For Prestonsburg:

offense: tends to give more attention to exploiting an opponent's perceived defensive weakness.

defense: tends to give more attention to shoring up perceived weaknesses rather than exploiting an opponent's offensive tendencies.
Don't let the other team score and we win.

But really
Offense: See the adjustments of the opposing teams to our formations and then run plays that will take advantage of allignments. Also be able to adapt to the many defensive fronts and allignments so any play can be ran.

Defense: Get correct allignment. Find the keys and Fly to the ball.
From watching/playing many years of Raceland football, I've noticed a few changes through out the years. In the early 90's, Raceland had one goal, Run the football, and play fast defense. Then in the early 2000s, they moved to a more pass happy offense. It was relatively affective, and Raceland won a few playoff games under the system. The past 2 years, they've kept the spread look, but took a more run based attack, having back to back 2000+ yd seasons. If a team is strong up front, their going to try and "outquik" you, if the team is smaller and quicker, they will go off tackle and up the middle.

Their defense as of late has moved to a more "Bears" attack. Hitting harder, playing faster, and smarter. They do a great job stopping the run and do well against the pass for the most part. They seem to exploit most weaknessess rather quickly, if your weak upfront, they're going to bring the heavy rush, if your strong and quick, they're going to blitz and throw more looks at you.

all in all, both offensively and defensively, they're giong to play off of what you give them. Getting stronger and strong in the offseason has been a big factor as well. Whatever they are doing, it seems to be working. The last few years have been a great upswing for the Rams and things in Raceland-Worthington football programs look solid as a rock, from the JFL all the way up.
Its also hard to prepare for raceland because you dont know exactly what kind of look they will come out with. will they spread it out and keep you from putting 8 in the box, thus opening up the running game? or will they force you to clutter up the line and lbs, then go play action or slant on you. really raceland's a very adaptable team, offensively.

on the defensive side of the football, they're not going to let you run the ball for much, their pass defense has gotten better, but STILL can use vast improvement. all in all i think this is one of if not the best team in raceland history.
