Yes, first ever and their program started 31 years ago. They pulled out of district for a while and went back in district 3 years ago.

Enjoy your win and celebrate with your kids. It may not seem like much to some people, but the playoffs are special and enjoy your time. The worst part, your going to be traveling to probably the second best single A team in the state. Play hard and represent your district well!

Big congrats to Betsy Layne. Dylan Maldonado is a gifted player. Special thanks to Coach Parsons, Dylan's dad and all the staff at BL for their hospitality from all the guys at WDHR...It was a pleasure to be there for history last night. The crew painted "31" on the field in an attempt to exorcise 31 years of bad football and turning a corner with their program.
Last night's game was win #34 in the last 18 years for Betsy Layne. Last season, their win over Phelps on the road was the first district victory for the Bobcats in 14 years. Earlier this season when the Bobcats defeated South Floyd, it was their first win over the Raiders since 1995. Times are changing for the better on the hill... Enjoy it guys and good luck against Hazard.

wow...this could truly be the turning point....yes they may be playing hazzard in the first round but who cares.....Betsy Layne is going to the playoffs....sounds weird to be making that statement but at the same time you have to be happy for this program at this point no matter if you are an alumn, spectator, commentator, or even a rival...I was in attendance at last nights game and at the begining of the game there was a 31 painted on the 50 yard line symbolizing 31 years of disappointment for the bobcat football program....and the coaches who left, the players who quit, and the stundent athletes who chose to go somewhere else with their talents all gave up on Betsy Layne football, but those kids as well as the coaches last night never gave up...and at the end of the game the 31 was wiped away from the middle of the field as weel as the history books....congratulations to the Bobcats, you are an inspiration to me and i thank you for taking pride in youselves and your school because you could have just revived a community who has fallen away from supporting the Big Blue..
