Top of the preseason leaderboard is once again Rowan Co., Ashland and East Carter.

What about Boyd Co.? They have some good middle school players. Will they play up?

Boyd Co. was ranked 10th in the Cats Pause.. Boyd's Middle School made it to the 8th grade championship game,lost to Ashland 61-32.Ashland's 8th ended the season 22 and 0.
Ashland's 7th defeated East Carter in the 7th gread championship in a real close game. Ashland's 7th ended up 19 and 2.

That's true. The week of the tournament was Boyd's fall break and several key players were out of town. The previous week, Verity's 8th defeated Boyd in a closer game, 60-48 at Verity, with Boyd starting 2 seventh graders that had just played most of the seventh grade game immediately before it. They made it to the championship game with only 5 8th graders on the roster all season. Verity's 7th grade lost to Rose Hill, a team Boyd beat by nearly 20 points. There must be some talent in there somewhere.

Boyd definitely has talent coming up. Good luck to 8th grade guard Allie Slone who had surgery on her wrist. She was missed at the tournament but was glad to see made all-conference.

With Leslie Eagle still in the mix at Morgan Co. I don't think they will have near the drop off other people are saying she is a great 16 region player maybe 1 of the best in the last 5 or 10 years to play in the 16 region.

was told the game that boyd came within 12 ashlands starters did not play the 4th quarter. Boyd does have some good players but ashland goes about 8 deep without missing a beat.

Hows about givin Ashland's Verity some credit... 1... Ashland was on fall break at the same time. (Just to make a statement) 2. For two straight years, the girls went back to back OVC champs, and have only lost one game in that two years. (not including them losing in the 3rd round of state... so 2 games in 3 years) 3. The 5 starters are dressing out for the Ashland Kittens... (JV and Varsity) The Subs are Playing as the freshman team. 4. The only game the girls have lost in this season, was in the third round of state, by clay county. Who may i remind you, have won State for the last 3/5 years.

(not including them losing in the 3rd round of state... so 2 games in 2 years)

I'm not taking anything away from Verity's 8th grade team...they are good. Verity's team is very deep...Boyd doesn't even have 6 8th graders playing. So, look at the big picture... On their home court, Verity's very good and very deep 8th grade team beat Boyd by only 12 points, 60-48, when Boyd played 6th and 7th graders half of the game. That doesn't mean Verity isn't good, it just points out that Boyd has talent, too.
