Just figured this would be an interesting thread and should be some good responses.

From the 15th Region Shawn Scott 01' and Barry Sanders 03' from Pike Central comes to mind. From Allen Central Jeremy Hayes 01' would fit the mode of a college 3 man but never played in college.

From The state it would have to be Ra'Von Lee from Ballard 04'
Check out these high lights and never plaed a game in college.

Lartavious Banks the starting PG for Hopkinsville in 02-03 is another player tha comes to mind.

Whats your opinion on this?
Ben Bowling Pcc
Ben played College ball.
Can anyone beat CARLOS TURNER from Fairdale for all time in the state. He went from major DI material (South Carolina signee) and Mr. Basketball shoe in to never playing DI.

BUD MACKEY may pass him up though, only time will tell.
Bobby Rice from Sandy Hook High School accepted a scholly from Adolph Rupp, but had a career ending injury in a freshman team scrimmage. So he never played any college ball, but most def. had the talent and skills.
Bud Mackey deffinatly
Did Todd "Heff" Conely (Elkhorn City) ever play a college game?
Shelby Valley:

Kelsey Friend, Patrick Tackett, Seth Kiser, and now Jacob Bryant won't be playing college ball so add him to the list as well.
Have to go with Bud Mackey.
Seth Kiser from Valley.

Ben went to college but he got kick off the team before the season started. So he didn't play college ball....
Ben Bowling without a doubt...
Brock Keathley, from BL in 2001

Why is Jacob Bryant not playing somewhere. I would think with his shooting ability he could be used somewhere.

I agree "Rollo Turner" was the best I've seen to never play college ball.

Hard to believe Ra'Von Lee never played college ball.

Ben was on the team during the off-season. He never played. Ben Bowling is def the biggest name on this thread.
Justin Allen was a very talented player for Prestonsburg. I think he could have contributed nicely at a school like Alice Lloyd or Berea.
Aaron Branham from East Ridge
Zach Shaw of Lewis Co.
shawn scott from pcc; i will agree with bud mackey, what a tragedy.

Lartavious Banks

All of those I would have to agree. But now lets add to that list of Pike Central with Jammie Hamilton and Chase Lyons.

and Bud Mackey

Shelby Valley has had quite a few as well that some one mentioned.
Oh and one more I am not sure if any of you will remember this kid but his name was Benny Grigsbee.

He graduated grade school from Johns Creek, then went to Pike Central his freshman and part of his sophmore year and then not to sure where he landed. He got into serious trouble and left Pike County. If this kid had finished high school hard telling where he could have landed. Would have been the best player to come out of Pike Central. Was a great tail back in foot ball.
Has anyone heard of Ervin Stepp. He was Mr. Basketball not sure what year but he went from high school and was going to play for the charlot hornets but blew out his knee. Not even sure what high school he played for. But he is still really good.

I remember. He averaged about 50 ppg and took what seemed like 100 shots each outing. Half his average came from free throws.

Ervin Stepp played at EKU and was never a star player in college. Ervin's brother Jimmy played on the same EKU teams as Ervin and was more productive of the two. Ervin played at EKU from about 80-85. The Charlotte Hornets did not even come into existance untill about the 88-89 season.

Mr. Basketball in 1980, he played at Phelps.
The last Russell team to go to state....out of the 7 seniors on that team only one player went to college to play ball...which was Jonathon Vanhoose

That was because he was the only one allowed to shoot the ball.:p

Yes but shooting the ball is not everything...imagine how many assists and rebounds Austin Blair had and Ross Turner as big as he was could of played ball and the other Austin was not a bad player either.
