CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Ryan Newman has reached a verbal agreement to drive for Stewart-Haas Racing next season, a NASCAR source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Wednesday.

The deal could take up to a month to finalize and announce as negotiations continue for car sponsors.

Newman's wife has her own blog and she said not to get your hopes up just yet. She said this whole article was premature and that nothing had been agreed upon yet. Need I remind you, the guy reporting this is the same guy that reported Martin Truex Jr. signed a 2 year extension with DEI last week when he really didn't. I still think Newman will end up with Stewart Haas, but I don't think it's a done deal just yet.

Ryan Newman will be 10X better than Truex. I think Truex is way overrated.
