reenup County’s Tyler Hieneman is set to finish out his senior season at the highest level possible — the State Tournament in Lexington — this week. A fitting end perhaps to a high school career that is rivaled by few.

For his accomplishments on the field in 2008, Hieneman was recently voted the All-Area Player of the Year by coaches in northeastern Kentucky.

“It feels really prestigious,” Hieneman said. “It really does make me feel like the hard work pays off.”

Hieneman helped lead Greenup County to back-to-back 16th Region titles this season. The Musketeers have followed up a 28-win 2007 season with 36 more this season heading into play at Applebee’s Park on Thursday.
