"The Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary defines ‘eisegesis’ as: an interpretation, esp. of Scripture, that expresses the interpreter’s own ideas, bias, or the like, rather than the meaning of the text.

Thus, when someone reads something into Scripture—this would be an example of eisegesis. For instance, nowhere does the Bible ever speak of billions of years. In Genesis 1, the word day (yôm) in context, as used for the six Days of Creation (with a number and the phrase evening and morning), means these days are approximately 24-hour periods—ordinary days.

However, probably the majority of church leaders insist these days could represent billions of years—this is ‘eisegesis’, as the billions of years is a belief from outside of Scripture that is read into Scripture (resulting in the clear words of Scripture being reinterpreted on the basis of these outside ideas). "

Where in Scripture does God ever give man dominion of God's Word?

The Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary defines ‘exegesis’ as: critical explanation or interpretation of a text or portion of a text, esp. of the Bible.

This is often called the ‘grammatical-historical’ interpretation method.

Thus, when someone reads the words of Scripture, and interprets them on the basis of context and the type of literature etc., then this would be an example of ‘exegesis’—reading out of Scripture what the writer clearly intended to express.

Which 'key' do you use?

I done some research and discovered that the word 'yom' has 3 different meaning. 1. 12-hour period, 2. 24-hour period, and the third definition is a long period of time.

In the hebrew bible it does not say that the days of creation where in successive order, it just states yom, or day and then a number. This could have many different meanings. It also mentions in genesis 1:2 that god was hovering of the seas of the newly formed earth, which is where the first unicellar lifeforms where created. God does not give us exact details on how he created life on this earth, it just mentions the things that where relevant to humans.

There are many more sides to this debate, some which use scientific fact to back their view of the bible, something your site does not.

so it seems you are "eisegesis" and are taking things from the bible that may not be there.

These links give an in depth look at some of the passages from genesis and how each theory of creation holds up. I think its some interesting stuff.

You are absolutely wrong in your evaluation. Eisegesis clearly means to read into it without using grammatical-historical information from the same text - which is clearly what the sites that you have posted do. If you continue to read the book of Genesis in Hebrew and see how the author used the very same word in other instances, then it only has one clear meaning - a 24-hour period. Also the first chapter points to this explicitly as a morning and evening. If it were millions of years as you and the site suggest, those are some pretty long mornings and evenings. Also, the word yom in Hebrew can only mean a long period of time when used in certain grammatical ways, in which, when conducting an "exegesis" of the word from Genesis it is not used in the ways it could mean a long period of time. It's like the english to, too, and two. If I say, Let's go to the market, then it only as one meaning in which it could refer to. If you were to say it could mean also or the number, then you completely take out of context the way in which the word means.
