-----Preliminary look at the 2008 Mountain Classic-----
*JBS: The "Pride of Pippa Passes" are 4-1 all time in Mountain Classic winning the title last January over Bell County.

*Knox Central: The Panthers will be making their first trip to Mountain Classic since 1989. Knox Central lost to Clay County in the first two tournaments.

*Breathitt Co. The Bobcats last played in the WYMT Tourney in 2003 falling to Perry Central in the finals. Breathitt County has an all time mark of 4-5.

*Pikeville: Success has not come easy for Pikeville at the Mountain Classic posting just a 2-5 record during the Panthers previous four trips. It has been feast or famine for Pikeville in this tournament. Pikeville has lost in the opening game three times but made the finals in 1997.

*Knott Central: Is this the year KCC finally wins this coveted title? The Patriots have played more games (31) than any other team who has not captured the WYMT trophy.

*Cumberland: Schools from Harlan County have been so very close to winning the Mountain Classic but have come up empty. Cawood and Harlan missed hoisting the trophy by a combined nine points in three championship appearances. The Redskins could find themselves in Saturday night's final if they live up to their early season success.

*Hazard: Al Holland continues to roll despite the wardrobe change. The 'Dogs have also rolled in the Mountain Classic winning the title three times (98-04-05) and might be the favorite again. Holland won "The WYMT" three times with Perry Central (1999-2000-2003).

*Clay County: Kevin Spurlock returns to one of his most special places to play basketball. The hard nosed coach of the Tigers is 17-1 at the Morton Combs Athletic Complex (all as Hazard's head coach) between 2002-2006. Clay County put this tournament on the map and the Tigers hope WYMT title #8 comes in 2008.
