Final
I can't wait to watch Betsy Layne vs Shelby Valley. Should be a Great game. Top Two 2A Schools in Eastern Kentucky IMO. That's a tuff loss for Valley against ETown
Just curious, what was the reasoning for Shelby Valley scheduling this game?

I don't have clue. ETown was 0-5 going into this game. I know that. Maybe a connection on Coaching staffs or something ???

Don't know on this one, but it was the second of two "odd" games yesterday. 1A Dayton went down to Lebanon to play 3A Marion Co. and lost 18-30.

No record of either pairing in the last 25 years.
Wow.  Just wow.

For a team that had such high expectations for this year, SV has definitely not played up to the level that they can.  Granted, Valley certainly beefed up their schedule this season, and should be commended for that.  Even though Etown was winless going into the game, they went 8-4 just last year, and recently played in the 3A state title game in 2020.  And of course, a 4 hour bus ride would likely play a factor.

But allowing 62 points and losing by 35?  Can't happen.  Not for a program that wants to be considered a regional title contender.  The defense, which played so well against Lawrence Co and Martin Co, has fallen way off.  SV has now given up 148 points in their last 3 games, and that's just not going to cut it.  The offense may have put up 27 points themselves, but also turned the ball over multiple times in this game, which seems to be a recurring problem this season.  Valley has got to start taking better care of the ball if they want to make noise in the playoffs.

Shelby Valley's bye week couldn't come at a better time, as they have A LOT to work on over these next 2 weeks.  They still have the opportunity to go 3-0 in district and host the first 2 rounds of the playoffs, although their RPI has fallen low enough that the chance of hosting a regional championship is likely gone.  But they could just as easily lose to Pike Central and Betsy Layne if they don't get things straightened out.

Congrats to Elizabethtown on an impressive win.

Good question.  Pikeville was open this past week.  Shelby Valley could have saved themselves a long drive.  Would've been a great environment for a game.
