Red Devils and Comets square off in the regular season finale. Both teams are coming off much needed wins. I expect a good ballgame. The Comets youngsters are showing much promise and a bright future ahead. Russell is not your typical 1-8 team and have lost multiple games by a point or two.
This will be a good game for the Devils. They will get to experience the other side of a blowout for the first time this season.

I agree. The stars are aligning for Russell to make a playoff run. The Wheelersburg game alone showed Russell isn’t terrible as their record might indicate. If they could cut out the mistakes with interceptions and fumbles at critical times, they may be a sleeper.
Lawrence losing Gillispie and now Belfry having their QB and coach head to Paul B. Hall in Paintsville last night certainly opens some doors for the Devils. They may beat Ashland the following week as well and maybe even whoever survives the other side of that bracket the next week.
If Russell doesnt turn the ball over or blow about 3 assignments, they are sitting at 8-2 on the season, imo. That being said, Im not sure if that means Russell is a pretty good team with bad luck or if they are simply a team that makes those mistakes because they truthfully arent very good at all. Regardless, 3A is pretty weak and that lends itself to someone making a Cinderella run. Get hot at the right time in that division and just about anything can happen.
