Is there really a logical explanation why Pike Central is consistently so bad?

Coaching. The years they were good was during the Chapman years and they were a legit top 10 team in 3A. They were solid under Ratliff and would consistently win 7 games a year. Now their only wins this year will be against a winless Pendleton County, a winless Floyd Central, and a bad Magoffin County team. Usually finished 2nd in the district behind Belfry just 4-5 years ago but this was during the Belfry 4 peat so no shame in that. But one thing their fans love to brag about and hang their hat out is they always beat Belfry in the 3/4 and 5/6 grade league but for some reason it never does translate to success in middle school or high school.

Belfry Middle is a juggernaut! Going to the State Finals in Lexington is a yearly trip for them.
