Thoughts?
I expect Boyle to win their 10X  straight game against Catholic.
Boyle Rolls to 7-0.
This game is a real head scratcher. Lexington Catholic's defense has been impressive this season and the Knights seem to be more competitive with Boyle County in most years than I expect them to be. Still, it is hard for me to imagine that a team that could only muster 6 points against Covington Catholic has the offensive firepower to beat Boyle County. I hope that LC pulls off the upset, but I am going to predict a Boyle County win and hope that I am wrong.

Boyle County 28   Lexington Catholic 7
I think Lex Cath at home finally pulls this one off 24-21 Lex Cath
Let’s get real on making predictions.

Boyle County 42
Lexington Catholic 14
Only team stopping Boyle this year is the Redhounds.

Yes, giving up 500 yds. a game on defense will really stop Boyle. You get lucky to beat a team with a losing record and now you are a world beater. The Redhounds better concentrate on even getting to the semifinals. Sounds like the same song I heard last year only a different verse.

They put up 35 on Lex Cath and 29 on Boyle.  Overall, how did Corbin's defense grade out?  Any concerns?

Also, let me say this :  THE UNDENIABLE TRUTH  is ....  Corbin's pretty good!!!!

OSH our defense was just a little flat last night. But after a huge Franklin win the week before, no doubt looked a little less fiery at times. But even with giving up some deep drives in Corbin territory, they just would either recover a fumble, interception or force a turnover on downs. So not our normal look, but dang, you hold a team to 6 points at home. Pretty darn good. #23 a big interception, #15 a big interception run back for a touchdown. #41 always shows up for a big fight.  Really not worried about that, because we also had a starter out on the d line last night. Very proud of our bend don't break defense. Pulaski #12 looked very good. He really distributed the ball nice on the scramble to his playmakers and they did a nice job as well making the catches. But once they got near the 20 it all just dried up and you got to give credit to the Corbin defense as they every time but one would come tighten up and hold.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The younger hounds are loaded. We put the JV in last night on offense late in the 3rd and they got a score against the Pulaski varsity. #14 I predict will be force to be reckoned with once he gets turned loose at QB and gets settled in when its his time.
Lex Cath will keep it respectable until the half.

But I agree with 64Sur’s prediction.

Lexington Catholic by a TD in a war..
Boyle comfortably.
Will Dakota Patterson be ready for this game?
He won't play this season.
I had heard he would be ready late in the year
I think Boyle County looks forward to this game every year so I think they turn it on this weekend and win convincingly

I was at the bowling green game and never saw him!! Could have overlooked him,  but I was looking for him!!
I didn't see him at the North Hardin game either. Is he sick again or something?
Boyle continues to roll. I do think Lex. Cath makes it interesting for a little bit, but by the second half Boyle will put it away.
I'm a Boyle fan but this game has me a little nervous. I'll take Boyle 28-21

North face Vs. Carhart

Bubble vest Vs. Overalls

No doubt both teams will be fired up but I believe BC gets away early in the second quarter.
For anyone who can't make it to the game, it will be online on Prepspin.com

I’ll definitely be on the Carhartt side!
Lex looked like a good team when I watched them. Well coached. A very hard team to explain for me. But if we were comparing it to basketball, they work to get matchups they want and expose it. As hoot said, LC always plays boyle close, or it’s just a bad matchup for BC, which I think the first is true. But their kryptonite has always been physicality of play. Boyle has always been traditionally very physical. If LC gets some blocking, they’ll be able to score some points I believe. But I’d say 9 time out of 10, it won’t be enough. But i do think it will be a relatively high scoring game. Aroind 42-48 to 20-24ish.
I went back and looked and since 2017 LC has played Boyle within 8 points only twice.

If you are referring to my statement, then you are cherry picking to make a point. I can see why you stopped counting at 2017. Two of the past three games have been decided by 8 points or less, but if you start counting at 2011 instead of 2022, Lexington Catholic won 8 games during that period. (Now I am cherry picking.) Go back further, and Boyle County won more than it lost but there have been quite a few very close games over the years. The series has not been so lopsided that it can't be considered a rivalry. I don't think many people expected a 6 point Boyle County win in the regular season last year or in 2020. I expected Boyle to win both games by a wide margin, as they did in last year's playoff game.

I don't know how LC is this year but when JC played a two game series with them a few years ago, they struck me as a finesse team and JC dominated the LOS and time of possession. Based on scores it seems like the new coach has placed more emphasis on defense. I have always had the impression that in most years, LC had great athletes but preferred winning shootouts over working hard on defense but I admit that I've never followed Lexington area football very closely.
I watched Catholic and the difference will be upfront. Catholic oline is the smallest I’ve seen them in years. They will have a tough time giving the quarterback much time. Boyle I read should have Hardwick back for the first time this year on the oline. I believe that will be all seniors upfront with the exception of the freshman Kelly at Center, Boyle pulls away 49-21 by running the ball for 300-400 yards on the ground. That oline is loaded with talent if everyone is back.
I think Cath. will stay in this one until the 4th and then Boyle will put them away. Both teams have been putting up a lot of points but I don't think this will be a shoot out.

Boyle Co. - 24
Lex. Cath. - 13

My point wasn't to downplay the rivalry. It's probably Boyle's #1 Rivalry for sometime now.

I didn't think I was cherry picking by going back 5 years. It's just that many talk about the "closeness" of the rivalry but there has really only been 2 close games in the last 9 played. If we want to go back 5 more, to 2012 then LC Dominates the Series something like 5-1. 5 years before that I think it was something like 6-4 Boyle.

Either way, it's a great rivalry and yet I just don't see a validation that LC always plays Boyle close. At least not in the last 5 years.
For LC to have a chance I feel like they need to establish the run and I just do not see that happening. Any team who has had success over the years against Boyle has had sustained success running the football (Johnson Central- 2019, Lexington Christian-2021 Corbin- 2018) . With that said, I feel like they will have a couple big plays and stay close for a bit but the Rebels will prove to be too much.
