Below are teams who were missed or discovered during this research.

Virgie Eagles (1939-1990) – Virgie High School opened its doors to students in 1939 but did not field a Varsity football effort until almost 30 years later. The first Eagles took to the field on September 6th, 1968, they defeated Mullins 23-6. They would play a limited schedule that season and record a 2-5 overall record. In their first game of 1969 they would take Pikeville to a 0-0 tie. After finishing 1969 with a 6-2-1 record, football at Virgie seemed to be on the rise. It wasn’t to be, in 1970 the Eagles went 0-10 and they would not win more than 3 games a season (including another winless endeavor in ’76) until 1977. Virgie started to become competitive on the field in the late 70s and in 1983 with an 8-3 record won their first of 3 district championships, before losing 18-13 to Pikeville in the first round of the Playoffs. They would find themselves back in the playoffs in ’83 again loosing to Pikeville 25-0. Finally, in 1989 they recorded their best record ever going 9-1 and winning their 3rd and final district title. They feel to Pineville 42-0 in the first round of the playoffs. In 1990 Virgie consolidated into Shelby Valley, the Wildcats still wear the blue and white of the Virgie Eagles.

Beaver Dam Beavers (????) – Played in at least the 1920s, no other info found

Central City Golden Tide (1906-1987) – The Golden Tide was known more for their basketball teams, cheerleading squads and Band than it was for Football. Central City however did field grid teams as early as the 1920s, in 1926 they played some of their best football, going into a Thanksgiving Day ball game in 1926 against Elkton with only one loss on the season. They would win that game and finish 9-1 on the year. In 1927 Central City and Greenville both went undefeated and claimed a mythical Western Kentucky Title, Greenville issued a challenge to Central City to play a “playoff” game on Thanksgiving Day to settle the claim, but the Greenville School Board vetoed the challenge. The Tide continued to be a gridiron competitor until after the 1941 season until after the duration of the War, they never took to the grid again.

Clay Red Devils (???) – Clay appears to have fielded a team as early as the 1920s up until 1942, folding their team for WWII and never restarting it. At some point in the 1950s they started going by the name Jets in at least basketball. Not much else can be found.

Dawson Springs Panthers (PRESENT) - Dawson Springs still stands today, in 1942 they folded their football program for the duration of the War just like Central City and several other schools did, only to never field another team. The Panthers played on the grid from 1919-1941 and their history is spotty. Their best years appear to have come in 1922 (6-1) and 1930 (7-1-1) finishing 3rd behind Mayfield and Owensboro in their league.

Drakesboro Cardinals (????-1990)[/COLOR]
– Drakesboro fielded a team sometime in the 1920s, not much can be found outside of a singe news article about a scheduled game

Earlington Yellow Jackets (????) – Earlington as a school existed until it was merged into the Hopkins County schools and has a rich basketball history but in the 20s and 30s they did field football teams.

Elkton Elks (19??-????) – 1925 SKC Champs is the only thing I can find about Elkton Highs football successes; at some point they became or merged into Todd County High (pre Todd County Central). Their last varsity squad appears to have been in 1942.

Morehead Vikings (1922-1958) – Morehead led teams onto the gridiron from 1929 until 1938. Their best record was 1930 going 7-0-1 and outscoring opponents 157-20, the only blemish on their record that year was a 0-0 tie to Olive Hill. In 1958 Morehead was replaced by a new school, Rowan County High who would keep the Morehead colors and mascot. They relaunched football under that name in 1962.

Greenup Tigers (???-1973) – The Greenup Tigers played varsity football from 1922-1936 and then again for a single season in 1952. Greenup had 3 seasons of note, 1928 (5-2-2), 1931 (6-4) and 1935 (5-3-1).

Rugby University Tigers (1872-1948) – Despite its name, Rugby was a college prep school for boys. In 1948 the school closed for what was supposed to be a single year due to operating costs, by December of that year the property had been sold to a church. Their final season on the football field had come 2 years earlier in the fall of 1946.
