Got inspired by the lopsided thread. Who is your school's greatest head coaches?
Boyle Co:
1.) Chuck Smith (1992-2004)
2.) Larry French
3.) Chuck Smith (2014-Present)
Trinity's is easily Bob Beatty, but a solid honorable mention for Dennis Lampley.
Jack Morris

Can’t argue that.

I’d put #4 as Ed Rall. 1974 to 1987.
Belfry’s best coach was some guy named Philip Haywood. Won a few games.
Haywood!
Phillip Haywood is one of the best of all time. I’d throw in Chuck Smith - Larry French - Dudley Hilton - Dave Mueller Bob Beatty (even though they were private’s) Jack Morris Yeagle from
Beechwood Berner was good at ft Campbell. Daddy jaggers at ft Knox. Etc
Dudley Hilton
Dudley Hilton
Dudley Hilton

All 3 times. 😂
THE THREE H'S

Hillard Howard -- Pikeville
Phillip Haywood -- Belfry
Dudley Hilton -- Bell Co.
* If former HC Cotton Adams name ended in an H, I would list him too. All old school.

Going strictly by NUMBER OF WINS:

5. Bill Allara 45
6. Gene Davis 35
7. Mike Jackson 25

That’s amazing. Where does that rank Pikeville all time in Kentucky HS football as a team? If I’m seeing the numbers correct, counting 2018 totals, we passed Bowling Green to assume #8 all time in Kentucky, correct? Assuming nothin in 1926 and 1927?
Belfry Coaches: 609 Wins

Al Vipperman 85
Dick Roddy 60
Paul Dotson 19

We have several years with win loss data that we dont know who the coach was.

Actually a couple of scores have surfaced for 1927, but not including them in our unofficial official numbers until we can get some more confirmation.

But I haven’t check on where we are in the state, because I want to feel like is as close to as 100% accurate before taking it to the KHSAA.
Kenny Roark middlesboro that's easy
Roark was a master. Good guy too

Who was the coach for Middlesboro in the 70’s?

Dale Mueller was at Highlands which is a public school. Unless you're talking about a coach named Dave that I'm just unaware of.

Mike Holcomb could coach some football too
We don't have the greatest history at Casey as we were so basketball heavy in the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Football coaching was a revolving door for the most part, even when we had solid seasons on the Gridiron. As far as I know it's:

Steve Stonebraker (current coach)
Andy Stephens (Taylor assistant coach)
Boyd Randolph (Pulaski Superintendent now)|
Sam Marple (current Taylor County head coach)

I'm not for sure if 3 and 4 are correct. I know for sure Stoney is #1 and Andy had at least 2 really good seasons. Before Stonebraker Casey county had never won a playoff game, and our best season was .500, 5-5, as I recall.

Not a big fan of ol smiley but the guy was a wizard and historically good. Like nationally historically good and he capitalized on Covington Catholic not having a coach after Lynn Ray.
Hatz Wrote:Who was the coach for Middlesboro in the 70’s?

Tom "Chalk" Stapleton led the Yellow Jackets to two straight 2A runner-up finishes
Ivan McGlone...Russell
Jacketfan606 Wrote:Kenny Roark middlesboro that's easy

Roark was a good coach, but it's FAR from easy. Stapleton had a long run of success, including when Roark was a player. Middlesboro had one of the top programs in the state.

Would have had more post season success if they weren’t limited to a two team District with some great Corbin teams.
