Here's this week's list after a good week of play !!

8. Prestonsburg (6-2) replaces Phelps in the polls. First time in rankings !! Is in the # 1 spot in the 58th.

7. Magoffin County - a group that has some expectations. Have not played as of late, have lost the last five in row !!

6. Johnson Central (4-7) - Group that just has not played well up to this point. Much like their counterparts Magoffin on a five game skid !! Talented group that still has to be one of the top four teams to beat in post season.

5. Pikeville (11-7) three wins for the Panthers yet, the one loss was the one that counted!!!
Gave Paintsville thier first All A title. "The Howard twins and Emily Colvin are not going to walk through that door."Smile

4. East Ridge (6-4) only win of the week came over Phelps in five !! good weekend of play ahead for this group. Let's sit and watch !!

3. Paintsville (7-4) What a year for Paintsville on the gals side of things, All a champs in basketball and softball hope Coach Napier enjoyed that shower of "gatorade". Big game tomorrow night hosting # 2.

2. Lawrence County (11-8) Well, to all of the 57th, there's a new group in town and they are called Lawrence County. Lookin' to run the table against Magoff. Co., Johnson Central, Paintsville tomorrow.

1. Shelby Valley (6-4) Tough week for defending Champs !! lost to four opponents that will contend for regional titles. One good thing about goin' down state. You get to come back and defeat 60th district favorite Belfry 13-2

Here's a little spin off the polls, for upcoming regionals...
57th - Lawrence County, Johnson Central
58th - Prestonsburg, Betsy Layne
59th - Shelby Valley, East Ridge
60th - Belfry, Phelps

The only six that can win the region are...drum role please...

6. Johnson Central - most pitching depth and hungry to win, but they have some distance to travel to claim the top prize...

5. Pikeville "The Howard twins and Emily Colvin are not going to walk through that door." (Don't understand this comment, and no they aren't...but Kylie Schmidt and company are sound fundamentally and always dangerous!)

4. Paintsville - learning how to win, but don't put much in the all-a...if SV were in it, they would have won both championships...bball and softball!

3. East Ridge - strong offense and a good defense...SV has been the thorn in their side for a number of years!

2. Lawrence County - pitching and defense are good, and they have dominated some of the middle level 16th region teams, but this is region 15!

1. Shelby Valley - Solid pitching and defense, aggressive baserunners, sound short game...and the bats are coming. Biggest advantage...a good core of players surrounded by some youthful talent...a challenging regular season schedule...and of course..."BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!"
