For the most part, pretty accurate for this early. At least compared to previous AP polls. I think 2-4 are out of order in several classes but oh well. Rankings an nothing..... this year anyways
Hate the "AP"
Who knows where the season will end? That being said, the reason this poll sucks is look at 3A, you got 2 idiots voting for LexCath and Belfry #1. They are a hopeless homer, don't understand football or both.
Things will begin to sort out when teams get into district play. Some teams take a much easier path in non district play.
For the most part, a pretty good looking poll.
I would flip 3 and 4 in 1A. Mayfield and Desales in 2A. Lex Cath and Lou central in 3A. South Warren at 4 and highlands at 3 in 5A.
AP poll is worthless. Too many homers. Seeing J-Town at # 10 in 6A is all the proof I need. lol
Somerset got one first place vote in 2A? Seriously? Someone out there actually thinks they are better than Mayfield, CAL, and DeSales? Must have been someone from the Commonwealth Journal. lol
Love seeing the Pineville Mountain Lions popping in at #10 in Class A!

LexCath with Central? 😳🙄😂
Has a lot of similarity to the computer ranking the majority call garbage.
No poll begins to start making sense until about week 5. Makes for good fodder in the meantime!
After nearly getting beat by a 1A school I can’t see Ashland being #2 in 4A.

Cath's win over Ryle is more impressive than Centrals over Dupont.
I find it comical Trinity receiving 7 first place votes and being listed as 3rd! Jeffersontown's last year in 6A must have inspired the Chargers to strive for new heights. I do find it hard to believe there are 26 teams worse than J-town.

I disagree. I saw Ryle in a scrimmage and they struggled. A Manual vs Ryle matchup would be interesting. I'd like to see LexCath get back to where they were a few years ago.
I think all polls are a waste of time and good bulletin board material for some people. What matters is the end of the year

Not IMO.

LexCath has beaten nobody.

Nobody has scored on Central.

Corbin beat Danville.

Belfry would rush for 4,000 yards vs LexCath.

I just don't see it at all, but time will tell.

I agree. Plus you can’t be too shortsighted when making these early polls. One game doesn’t make or break a team this early. You have to look at what they have for the year and how well they’re clicking early on. If it were based off of the few games alone then trinity wouldn’t even be in the top 10, because they’ve lost both. Belfry neither. You’d have corbin, boyle, and central all lumped together, I guess you’d have to look at the data to determine. But we don’t have to. Because it’s not all based on the games alone. These early polls are pointless to me. All HS polls are actually- until next year. Look at last year. The 3rd ranked team won the 3A championship with the first ranked losing to the 4th. It just gives us something to bicker about. If I had to rank them- 3A that is- 1)BC 2)Corbin 3)Central 4)Belfry or Lex. Cath. <— I don’t know about those two yet. But in the end. We could be ranked 200th as long as we win game 15!! I’m sure most upper echelon programs feel the same way.
Desales should be #1 in 2A as of right now.
Texans_99 Wrote:Desales should be #1 in 2A as of right now.

I would rather them be... takes the target off our back, an make our kids work harder as well....!
Not sure what more Desales could do to warrant the top spot in their class
Trinity, DeSales, and Anderson County got raw deals. Well maybe not Trinity. DeSales should be #1, Anderson #5. Danville 11
I'm not a Trinity fan by no means- but if anybody in the state played the 2 teams that Trinity has played they would be 0-2 also, they are the best team in the state, watched them on ESPN last week, but that's Trinity fault they should be playing teams like that because it's a even field. Only 1 team in the state that can beat them IMO is Male, and they have advantages also. Just plain facts
Good to see Bell County making the top 10!

That is a very good point.
I would be willing to give Trinity a shot this season and especially next...not saying we would win but if you don't think we'd (Boyle Co) have a chance you aren't paying attention.

Man I know you love your Rebels, but they wouldn't have a shot, nothing against Boyle but you guys do not have the resources to play with them. Ive watched Boyle and Trinity both play this year and its just different. Trinity will have a running clock on Ballard in the first half, they do it to them every year, and Trinity starts about 8 Sophomores I think. I know its a bunch. FYI though, Boyle's QB and WR could play for any team in the state.

I'm not arguing about this. All I'm saying is that we could play with Trinity. Our starting skill kids are better than theirs IMO. They would have A LOT more size and depth on the OL/DL and would wear us down. But that doesn't mean we couldn't hold our own and have a chance to win. And without question Chuck Smith is the best coach in the state and would have a plan and schemes to play with Trinity.

As far as Trinity vs Ballard goes, if we played Ballard a month from now I'm pretty sure they'd get a running clock on them too. Playing them first game with several OL starters that had never played a varsity game vs their athletes and size was tough. By District play our OL will be much better.

I hope things are good Big Daddy Bull.
