A Lexington police officer is rushed to the hospital, after police say a drunk driver ran into his cruiser early Friday morning.

It happened at the intersection of Redding Road and Tates Creek Road.

Police say the officer bumped his head, and was taken to UK Hospital.

We're told the officer was responding to a call, when he approached the intersection with lights and sirens on.

Police arrested the driver of the other car.

18-year old Aubrey Wells is charged with W DUI.

This is a shame, really is. Just hope the officer gets back to 100%

I surely hope that there are more charges tacked on to that after the investigation is complete. I guess the DUI was the initial reaction. I would seriously hope though that more, very easy to add charges will be filed against the driver.

I hope the officer makes a fully and speedy recovery. It's a shame that someone is injured and temporarily off the force because of the very thing that they try to prevent occurring.
