The bottle neck race for the highly competitive Mid-South Conference crown was solved Thursday night, but it is the other top seeds along with postseason ranking implications that remain on the line. University of Pikeville wrapped up the regular season title with a win over Life University, making Georgetown College men's basketball game with Lindsey Wilson College even that more important.

The No. 11 Tigers (23-5, 8-5) showed no fear, winning a battle on Senior Night in Columbia, Ky. 72-65. GC watched as a 10-point halftime lead salted away to a one-point deficit with just less than 10 minutes left. The No. 9 Blue Raiders (21-7, 6-7) came out on fire for a 21-10 run. Georgetown answered the call with a 22-14 run over the final 9:24 to pick up the all-important victory.

It keeps the Tigers in a tie with University of the Cumberlands for the second place seeding in the upcoming MSC tournament. Each have a regular season finale on Saturday. Georgetown stays on the road against Cumberland University, while UC heads to Pikeville.

Should each team win, GC holds the regular season tiebreaker of a season sweep – winning both games by a grand total of four points (79-77 and 70-68).

Life's loss to UPike drops them into fourth, while LWC's loss puts them in fifth. Lindsey Wilson finishes on the road at Campbellsville University, while Life hosts Shawnee State University.

Thursday, Georgetown raced out to a 31-15 lead and seemed to have all the energy. However, the Blue Raiders got within seven before a late surge had the visitors going to the locker room up 10.

The battle ensued from there with GC emerging victorious behind stellar offensive and defensive plays from Shadell Millinghaus, Troy Steward, Quan Poindexter, Jahyde Gardiner and Eljay Cowherd.

Steward led the charge with 20 points, while Poindexter (18) and Millinghaus (16) also played big roles at key moments offensively. Gardiner had a big block that led to an intentional foul that took a two possession game out to three with a pair of free throws. Cowherd came up with a big steal late that he pushed up to Gardiner and then a pass to Steward for a dunk.

Tigers tip off in Lebanon, Tenn. at 5 pm ET Saturday. MSC tournament action for the men begins next Friday at the Expo Center in Pikeville, Ky.
