WASHINGTON – J.P. Macura and Naji Marshall combined for 41 points on 15-for-25 shooting on Wednesday night, leading No. 4 Xavier to an 89-77 road win at Georgetown. The Musketeers swept the season series with the Hoyas, extending their win streak to five games in the series.

The Musketeers improved to 25-4 (13-3 BIG EAST), while the Hoyas dropped to 15-11 (5-10 BIG EAST).


FIRST HALF
• Georgetown raced out to an early five-point lead (11-6) at the 15:11 mark before the Musketeers responded with a 10-2 run to take their largest lead of the half, 16-13. J.P. Macura scored all 10 points during the run, going 4-for-4 from the floor with two 3-pointers.

• The two squads exchanged leads two more times over the next eight minutes before the Hoyas posted their largest lead of the game, 35-28, on back-to-back free throws from Jahvon Blair at the 5:39 mark. Xavier responded with another 10-2 run capped by a Sean O'Mara layup to regain the lead, 38-37, with 2:09 on the clock.

• Georgetown's Jamorko Pickett buried a three pointer with six seconds left in the half to give the Hoyas a 40-38 lead. Pickett had a game-high 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting with four 3-pointers at the break.

• Naji Marshall led the Musketeers with 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting, while J.P. Macura added 10 points on 4-for-7 shooting. Marshall added three assists and Macura paced the Musketeers on the glass with five rebounds. Xavier held a 19-16 advantage in rebounds.


SECOND HALF
• The first three minutes of the second half had three ties and three lead changes. Coming out of the under 16 minute media timeout, Quentin Goodin hit back-to-back shots to give Xavier a 54-50 lead they would never relinquish.

• A Quentin Goodin three pointer at the 4:55 mark gave the Musketeers their first double-figure lead of the game, 74-63. Xavier led by 14 points three times down the stretch and as late as the 00:56 mark on back-to-back Goodin free throws. The Musketeers went 8-for-10 from the foul line in the last two minutes of action to seal the 89-77 victory.

• Xavier hit 57.1 percent of its shot attempts in the second half after posting a .432 field-goal percentage in the first stanza. Quentin Goodin scored 16 points in the second half on 4-for-4 shooting.
