CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- There's no better place to end a two-game skid than on the road in conference play, which is just what the 12th-ranked University of Pikeville men's basketball team got, topping Campbellsville 81-72 on Thursday night.

Jayvian Delacruz dropped a season-high four 3-pointers to finish with a team-high 17 points and Darrion Leslie added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Chase Parsley dished out five assists and Basil Thompson chipped in with seven points and eight boards in his return to the court.

Tim Coleman made four 3s as well for the Tigers and went 5 of 6 from the stripe to tally 27 points, while Hagen Tyler added 13.

The Bears outshot CU 48-40 percent from the field, led the backboards 40-33 and dominated bench scoring 39-15.

After playing from behind for nearly all of the first half, a 7-0 run to open the second paved the way for the Bears to grab the much-needed Mid-South Conference win.

UPIKE's last lead of the first half was at 2-1 before Campbellsville went on a 10-0 run over the next two minutes to take control for the final 18:31. A Michael Chambers put back ended the Tigers' run at the 16-minute mark, but a three on the other end put them back up 13-4.

Before getting too far behind, the Bears (17-2, 2-2 MSC) were able to rally for a 7-2 spurt of their own, closing the gap to four at 15-11 with 14:04 left in the half. Campbellsville (15-5, 0-4 MSC) briefly went back up by eight, but a layup by Rze Culbreath and three from Jordan Perry closed the gap quickly to just three points.

It stayed close the rest of the half, including a tie at 31-31, as Campbellsville's lead grew no larger than four points over the final five minutes. Deion Evans, who played just three minutes in the half, made his presence count at the buzzer, finishing a layup through traffic to put the Tigers in front 41-38 at the break.

UPIKE opened the second half in style, starting with a corner 3 from Culbreath to tie it at 41-41. A lob to Da'Rell Domineck and tough baby hook from Leslie made it 45-41 Bears, their first lead since it was 2-1.

It took right at five minutes for Campbellsville to score in the second half on a Shawn Johnson triple, but with it back to a one-point game, Delacruz immediately answered with a 3 of his own. Coleman got to the cup for an easy two on CU's next trip, but it also sparked a 6-0 UPIKE run including two foul-line jumpers by Thompson.

The run grew to 15-2 for the Bears over a four-minute span, leading to them taking their largest lead of 15 points on a Parsley 3-pointer with 8:10 to play. It took seven minutes for Campbellsville to score again, finally ending its drought with two Coleman free throws.

Those freebies turned into a 6-0 run, allowing the Tigers to get back within single digits at 63-54 with 6:59 on the clock. The good times didn't last long as Leslie and Parsley fired back with two straight layups and Thompson added a jumper in a 50-second span.

Even with matching the largest lead of 15, UPIKE wasn't in the clear. The Tigers used a 10-2 run to get back within seven with 3:35 left, but luckily for the Bears, most of those final three minutes were all about trading baskets.

With less than 30 seconds left, Campbellsville was forced to foul and UPIKE made enough free throws to secure the win.
