MOREHEAD, Ky. – Junior forward Lamontray Harris scored a season-best 17 points, but the Morehead State men's basketball team fell victim to a cold offensive night inside Johnson Arena on a cold night outside as it fell 61-52 to Eastern Illinois Thursday night.

The Eagles, who had been perfect at home this season (4-0), slipped to 4-10 overall and 0-3 in the OVC. EIU secured its first road win and moved to 5-9 and 1-2 in the league.

"I thought Lamontray got back to scoring the ball tonight, which was encouraging," said head coach Preston Spradlin. "We did not have enough effort at all tonight, but I promise you we will not have another game where we have that type of effort."

Harris was 7-of-14 from the floor and also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds. He was the lone MSU player in double figures in the scoring column.

After scoring the opening bucket, the Eagles saw the visitors score 17 of the next 21 points to push ahead 17-6 at the 12:36 mark. EIU continued to hold a 21-11 cushion with nine minutes left in the half before a 9-2 Eagle run brought MSU to within 23-20.

The Panthers finished the half with a 6-1 flurry to lead 29-21 at the break.

MSU got to within six (54-48, 56-50 and 58-52) three times in the last three minutes.

The Eagles shot 38 percent (18-of-47) for the game and were limited to 4-of-19 from three-point range. They did nail 80 percent (12-of-15) from the free throw line. EIU also won the rebound battle, 40-31.

Morehead State remains at home on Saturday when the Eagles host SIU Edwardsville at 4:15 p.m. ET following the women's contest.
