TULSA, Okla. - Police have arrested an Oklahoma man accused of beating his girlfriend's 5-year-old son. The reason? The boy's mother told police her boyfriend said he was teaching the boy a lesson after he took a Christmas present from under the tree and opened it.
KJRH reports the boy has bruises, welts and what appears to be a hand print on his cheek. The mother made a statement on Facebook, saying when she saw the injuries she "ran to him like any mother would do." She says she asked her son what happened and she told him "Wesley hurt me real bad."
Police arrested Wesley McCollum for child abuse and child neglect. The boy was taken to the hospital, his mother says she's filed a protective order against McCollum.
