Why do teams schedule these schools? What can these schools do to play against more competitive teams/leagues?

2016-2017

Piarist went 1-28 (0-15 region, 0-8 district)
Win over Riverside Christian
Forfeit in District vs. Pikeville

Riverside Christian 5-26 (0-10 region, 0-7 district)
3 wins over Piarist
2 over KSFTD

Rose Hill 11-20 (1-9 in region, 0-7 in district)
3 wins over Piarist
2 wins over Riverside Christian
Most coaches will not call these teams and ask if they wanna play, these teams are the ones that are calling the other schools wanting to know if they will play. Riverside use to play one of the toughest schedules in the state for a school it's size.
I mentioned something similar in another thread.

In my opinion, these schools would compete at a higher level if they were in the KCSAA.
Maybe if they're in the district hosting rotation they make a lot of money?

I would imagine some schools just have to schedule them for seeding purposes.

I’m not familiar with KCSAA. What is that?

There is also the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association as well.
Most small Christian schools around here play in that league.

I would guarantee these teams would be competitive there.

Again, I think it's a money thing. If I'm not mistaken - I heard that one school uses the money they make from postseason tournaments to finance their athletic programs and even more.

I kind of wish that the KHSAA would allow some exemption to these schools to play in those leagues. I get why they choose to stay in the KHSAA however. They probably make more money to be in that league than the others.
Travel would be brutal to play based on looking at the team list.

The 4th region wouldn't be as bad for these schools.
