MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Wide receiver Jarin Higginbotham and running back Arien Beasley each scored two touchdowns at Valparaiso Saturday, but too many mistakes cost the Eagles in a 63-32 setback to the Crusaders.

The Eagles (3-6 overall/2-4 PFL) lost six turnovers and also had a negative 2-yard punt recovered in the end zone for a Valpo (4-4/3-2 PFL) score.

"We couldn't catch any breaks and just made way too many mistakes again on the road," said head coach Rob Tenyer. "I told my team that the only thing that matters is the guys that are here. They are the only ones who know what sacrifices they make week in and week out and that we are fighting for each other. We just have to find a way to cut down on mistakes."

Higginbotham, who leads the conference in yards per catch, hauled in just three passes but registered a 46-yard score from junior QB Lawson Page in the second quarter and closed the game on a 39-yard TD strike from senior signal-caller Jack Sherry.

Beasley had scoring jaunts of 2 and 5 yards, both in the second half. In between, senior tight end Jake Sutherland also nailed down a four-yard TD from Page and caught a two-point conversion.

But Valpo piled up 597 total offensive yards and scored on a pick-six and the punt recovery in which a stiff wind caught the boot and settled it into the Eagles' own end zone to make it a 14-0 Crusader lead in the first. The Eagles fumbled the ensuing kickoff, and the hosts had a 21-0 lead after one period. They led 42-6 at the half.

Freshman tailback Logan Holbrook led the Eagle ground game with 66 yards on 11 carries. On defense, end Jamil Butler came up with a career-best 10 stops.

Morehead State has a bye week before returning to PFL play on Nov. 11 at Marist.
