OXFORD, Miss. -- Entering shark-infested waters, it's safe to say Derrius Guice did all the eating Saturday night in Oxford.

The LSU running back had 276 rushing yards to lead the 24th-ranked Tigers past Ole Miss, 40-24.

The total was third-highest in school history - behind his LSU-record 285 yards last season at Texas A&M - and the 15th-best in SEC history.

Guice only scored once, but carved up the Landshark defense with runs of 59, 48, 33 and 26 yards.

Joining Guice in the LSU backfield was running back Darrel Williams, who became the first player in LSU history to have more than 100 yards rushing (103) and receiving (105) in the same game.

LSU (6-2, 3-1 SEC) outgained Ole Miss (3-4, 1-3 SEC), 593-347.

Tigers quarterback Danny Etling, starting for the 18th-straight game, was 9-of-13 passing for 200 yards with two touchdowns.

Losing to Troy was a huge wake-up call for LSU it seems. They've been on a tear
LSU just ran over top of the Landsharks. The goofiest mascot in college sports.

I beg to differ, the Landskarks became a huge Rebel icon a few years back when they had stingy defenses and the fan base was forbid officially from using Col Reb. Col Reb was replaced with a black bear that was never accepted due to resentment for taking away Col Reb. The Landskark among the fan base will never really be considered the mascot, it will always be unofficially Col Reb and it is evident on game day in the Grove and in what shirts the fans still wear as well as on cars. The Land Skark is a lot of fun doing the fin on big defensive plays

The Rebs lost QB Patterson for the year, that will be the final dagger for this years Rebs who other than a good passing game have stunk
