BOWLING GREEN, KY.
Police say a Western Kentucky University student has been arrested in the fatal weekend shooting of another student.

Police responded to the shooting at a home early Sunday in Bowling Green, the Bowling Green Daily News reported .

Bowling Green police spokesman Officer Ronnie Ward identified the victim as 21-year-old Kenneth A. Davis.

According to an arrest citation, 21-year-old Peter Glenn Gall of Bowling Green called police and said he shot someone, shortly after midnight Saturday. Gall was charged with second-degree manslaughter and booked into the Warren County Regional Jail on $100,000 bond.

The arrest citation listed alcohol as a factor in the shooting. Gall's attorney, Alan Simpson of Bowling Green, called it an accidental shooting and said the death occurred as the result of horseplay.

WKU's director of student activities, Charley Pride, said Gall and Davis were friends. Davis was a member of the university's Sigma Chi chapter. Pride said Gall pledged the fraternity at one point, but was never a full member.

Sigma Chi members have been offered grief-counseling services.

"It is a tragedy and it is going to have ripple effects," Pride said.

The Sigma Chi chapter declined to comment to the newspaper, and announced Davis' death on Twitter .

"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of brother Alex 'Minkus' Davis," the tweet said. "His smile and humorous personality will last forever."

Davis' sister, Emily Davis, quoted the fraternity's tweet to remember her brother.

"I know my brother was thankful for all the friendships he had made," her tweet said . "He lived a good life. It was just cut way too short."

Simpson said Gall's family wanted to extend condolences to Davis' family.
