Seems like this topic (or something similar) gets discussed every season, so here's my version. With so many games getting moved because of the weather, I was looking at the KHSAA scoreboard and started thinking about how many different places I've been to. It was more than I remembered when I started looking our (Johnson Central's) old schedules.

My list is from the 1999 season til present.

I didn't make the trip.
Been to a lot of places where they no longer play football. Cumberland, Evarts and Harrodsburg off the top of my head. Some great traditions when by the wayside when those placed closed. Also amazing to see how much some places have improved their facilities over the years like Lynn Camp and Knox Central.
Theres obviously a crap load of place west of I75 I haven't been, but if your talking about East of I 75 ive probably been to over half the high schools for different sports.
Been to a bunch of high schools in Kentucky when the boys played.
For a different point of view here is my list of colleges we have gone to for games.

All are NCAA D3 which we have driven to:

St. Louis, MO - Washington University in St. Louis X??? (It's home..at least twenty or nearer to twenty five)

Pittsburgh, PA - Carnegie Mellon University X3
Chicago, IL - University of Chicago X2
Sewanee, TN - Sewanee University (University of the South)

You can come along Dougie....but no offense. Mamagrit rides in the front of the bus with me. It would be the back of the bus for you. (Unless she wanted the back of the bus. She gets priority) Last year of traveling for us though. Hard to believe this is the last year of it after watching that first flag football game nineteen years ago.

I do the tripadvisor.com reviews. I usually review the hotel we stay at on there. There is a map of my reviews on the site and your right, it is pretty cool to see where you've been. My old truck (bought new) which I've had since the oldest boy was a fifth grader in 2005 has 268,000 miles on it. We average an oil change every two to three games in the fall for the past six years.

Just a list of where I have watched a game or scrimmage.
Of the places you have visited, what is your favorite place? What is your least favorite place?

Football Locker Room setups/fields
High school
Best Field- Grass field of Knox Central was like a big fluffy carpet when I walked on it a time or two when the boys played down there. Impressed me most that I remember.
Best Locker Room- Don't remember any high school football locker room set up that impressed me.

Worst Field- Berea Community when I played there. Football and soccer plus the band would destroy that field by the fourth or fifth week. Always a big mud hole at both forty yard lines in the center where you kicked off from because of this. Rocks a plenty as well with the uneven field. One endzone stayed muddy and wet on one side. The sidelines were always a mosh pit to try to stand on and like standing in a bowl of taffy.
Worst Locker Room - Was a tie between the "dungeon in the castle" that was the visitor locker room at Frankfort and the upstairs visitor bird house at Madison High School that not even half a class A team could fit into.

College(places I've been to and their football locker rooms)
Best field/Stands
Since my boys have played college, they have not played on one grass field which is a shame to me. I love grass fields and turf is hot, hard on you and tends to throw those little rubber beads everywhere including eyes. Not one college field/ stands set up has made me think, "This place is great". I suppose the history behind Harvard's field while there or the stadium at University of Pennsylvania impressed me most because I'm a history buff and they are VERY old and full of nostalgia. I have been in Eastern Kentucky U's locker room and knowing the history of the place and after actually attending games there during the championship playoff years....it did make me think when I came out onto the field and looked back up and imagined that stadium full like it was during those playoffs. The place rocked like I have not seen it since with those capacity crowds. Both upper and lower sections of the stadium was full. That did give me sort of a chill. That place WAS great in the early 80's

Best Locker Room would go to Dartmouth University and the new locker room at Washington University in St. Louis are probably my favorites. They have ventilation running through the locker bases that pull out the odor and dry out shoes and equipment.
Least Favorite Stands/Locker Room would have to go to Brown University in Providence which was a hole and the visitors locker room was about like being in the Madison High School Locker Room. One stiff fart and the place could come apart. Those locker rooms were under a very old and steep staired stadium. They had dehumidifiers everywhere because the place smelled of mold. Washington University in St. Louis was pretty sad with their old locker room setup before the new athletic center was built and opened a year ago.

In General
Place I like better than anywhere in the world that I've been - Beartooth Mountain Pass also known as "Top of the World" near the north gate of Yellowstone National Park in the southern edge of Montana. If you ever go to Yellowstone and don't make this trip over the pass from Wyoming to Montana, you are only cheating yourself.

Worst place and most nerve wracking to drive in that I can think of in the U.S. is the south side of Chicago (U Chicago) and a close second to that is downtown Boston (Harvard U.). Now that football is finishing up, you won't ever see me there again. Non- drivers and worst bicyclists and pedestrians that I've ever seen. Atlanta doesn't carry a torch to driving in Chicago or Boston.
