How many words does it take to properly frame potential destruction for our nation? One. ObamaCare. Though Nancy Pelosi had failed to get ObamaCare through the House back in 2009, Harry Reid (One man) never shy regarding shenanigans or illegalities, finagled it into law anyway.

It was the trickiest legislative move ever accomplished in the Congress. Here’s my best play-by-play:

Obamacare was signed into law in March 2010. If you recall, Nancy Pelosi’s Democratic majority in the House of Representatives was unable to pass their version of a healthcare law. Because all revenue bills have to originate in the House, the Senate found a bill that met those qualifications: HR3590, a military housing bill. They essentially stripped the bill of its original language and turned it into the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), aka Obamacare.

The Senate at that time had 60 Democrats, just enough to pass Obamacare. However after the bill passed the Senate, Democrat Senator Ted Kennedy died. In his place, Massachusetts elected Republican Scott Brown. That meant that if the House made any changes to the bill the Senate wouldn’t have the necessary number of votes to pass the amended bill (because they knew no Republicans would vote for Obamacare). So Senate Leader Harry Reid cut a deal with Pelosi: the House would pass the Senate bill without any changes if the Senate agreed to pass a separate bill by the House that made changes to the Senate version of Obamacare. This second bill was called the Reconciliation Act of 2010. So the House passed PPACA, the Senate bill, as well as their Reconciliation Act. At this point PPACA was ready for the President to sign, but the Senate still needed to pass the Reconciliation Act from the House.

Confused?

We all were.

And it got worse.

Remember that the Senate only had 59 votes to pass the Reconciliation Act since Republican Scott Brown replaced Democrat Ted Kennedy. Therefore in order to pass the Act Senate Democrats decided to change the rules. They declared that they could use the “Reconciliation Rule (this is a different “reconciliation” than the House bill). This rule was only supposed to be used for budget item approvals so that such items could be passed with only 51 votes in the Senate, not the usual 60. Reconciliation was never intended to be used for legislation of the magnitude of Obamacare. But that didn’t stop them.

So both of the “Acts” were able to pass both houses of Congress and sent to President Obama for his signature without a single Republican vote in favor of the legislation. The American system of governance was shafted. To quote Democrat Rep. Alcee Hastings of the House Rules Committee during the bill process: “We’re making up the rules as we go along.”

You know, it's not for lack of people who understand the truth, and who are willing to put the truth out there for the public's consideration. Rather it would seem the spirit of the arsonist has infected an ever growing proportion of this nation's citizenry and they are quite willing to watch Atlanta burn down all over again. And though the proportion of liberals in the Senate applies disproportionately as compared to the general populace, last night those few were enough to stick a torch to the fortunes of this Republic IMHO.

Last night 'one' man strode across the Senate floor to cast what I believe to be THE one vote which will live in infamy. 50 votes were needed to pass the skinny repeal bill. A yes vote by John McCain would have lifted some of the crushing weight of ObamaCare off of the shoulders of America's middle class. Instead he voted no, exactly one vote short of the goal, citing concerns of fairness as that relates to those responsible for foisting the ACA outrage upon the good folks of this nation in the first place. That being the Democrats.

So thanks to those who decided to vote no, for the foreseeable future, all of society's listless who would so choose to avail themselves, the ne'er-do-wells, those who will not to work, the non-contributors if you will, will go on getting 1st class health care on any passing whim. Ironically those footing the bill, owing to a shortage of money, will continue to shun the doctor's care needed to keep themselves healthy. The kids will go to the doc of course, but mom and dad? They will only go in case of emergencies such as car wreck or heart attack.

So Senator John McCain has joined the ranks of Harry Reid and Chief Justice John Roberts, and I suppose pulled a major coup d' etat in the process. Usurping the role of Senate Leader by calling for the US Senate to return to regular order. Which of course would end any hope of accomplishing a thing as long as Republicans were in the majority. But in so doing John McCain condemned the middle class to a continuation of life in the stocks of wealth redistribution. How many people does it take to end American Exceptonalism? One.
I've never considered the POS anything but a democrat in republican clothing to begin with.

In his 'return to the hill' speech he was far more preoccupied with being part of the grandeur of the Senate than in any particular concerns for his suffering constituents. Arizona insurance rates have increased over 125% in the years since the nefarious passage of the ACA. Meanwhile the good people over whom he legislated and who are paying for healthcare coverage, literally cannot afford to go to the doctor because of it. He put Senate decorum over his constituents.ABTW, the 125% mentioned does not include the 12,000 dollar deductible. Altogether a staggering 24 to 25,000 dollar a year nightmare that has almost no benefits attached for those who pay for the costs of free health care for others.

How's that fundamental transformation sitting with you? The ACA has very nearly managed to destroy America's middle class to say nothing about the total decimation of those who are retired.
I think telling a reporter to "watch the show" when asked which way he was leaning pretty much sums up the whole McCain profile..

A showboat, a grandstander, an ego manic.....A real POS!!

McCain just cant stand not being relevant and will do anything and everything to be in the limelight.

There is nobody in politics that I detest more than John McCain. And that includes all of those idiotic wacko morons of the democratic party.

I agree that you and your fellow zealots are a serious threat to freedom, but your collective ignorance takes back seat to no threat.

About every blue moon you manage to actually get something right Zealots are a big threat, hence the sigh of relief when Trump got elected and the evil witch was denied.
