Great day of baseball in Louisa. In game 1, Lawrence beat Powell 8-2 on a solid performance on the mound. LC's sophomore catcher goes deep.
In game 2, Lawrence shuts out Fleming 5-0. An awesome pitched performance by sophomore Maynard. I bet the kid didn't even make it to 70 or 80 pitches in 7 innings.
Lawrence is now 15-6 (6-0 in 60th District). For a team that lost 8 seniors, a group that played in 3 straight 15th region finals, winning one.....having to replace 99% of their innings on the mound, 7 every day spots in the field and lineup, and starting a 7th grader, three 9th graders, 1 sophomore, and some juniors......not too shabby.
Add to that news I found out Saturday. They have been devastated with injuries and dismissals. One of their best players with experience decided to leave the team. Their stud SS got hurt down in Myrtle, and talk is that he may not be able to return this year. And the senior lefty that played at Sheldon Clark is also out for the year with an arm injury. Other pitchers have stepped up, and LC's freshman righty and 7th grade lefty have been their #1-2 this season. And not to mention their middle school team has some really good talent this year, and the 6th grade team has some good talent on it as well.
Kudos to the coaching staff and the youngsters for stepping up! :Thumbs:
