This might be the most story filled game of the entire tournament.
South Floyd, as we know, is in their last season as a school. Next year, Allen Central and South Floyd will consolidate to form the Floyd Central Jaguars.
South Floyd won the 58th District over Allen Central last week, so they will always be able to say they won the last game that those two schools ever played against each other. Allen Central lost last night to a good Lawrence County team, but the Runnin' Rebs didn't go down without a fight. Nobody wants to loose. South Floyd doesn't want the Raiders to go down in the 1st round of the regional tournament and end their schools basketball program.
Now we come to Magoffin County. The 2017 Hornets were hyped as one of the best teams to ever wear the Maroon & White. Led by Mr. Basketball candidate, Trent Russell, they were supposed to be on the fast track to the schools first ever trip to Rupp Arena, but that hasn't been the case thus far. Their comeback win in the district tournament vs. Sheldon Clark was epic, but struggled against Johnson Central in the championship game.
These two have played twice this season, they split wins.
11/29 - MC won @ home, 63-56. First game of the season for both teams.
2/9 - South Floyd won @ home, 80-74.
Magoffin County is 18-11 on the season.
No Regional Championships in school history.
South Floyd is 20-12 on the season.
2001 15th Region Champions.
