Just thought I'de let everyone know Meeks is back on the team as of today. He practiced with the team and will play Friday. This comes from one of the team members.
Jesse Meeks is back!! He was at JC today practicing while their Freshman Big man was busy watching!!! What a big bunch of bullcrap this is turning out to become.I like Jesse, but once you have been gone for this long what is the point of returning? Are the Eagles this desperate that they welcome him back after he was dismissed after picking up techinal fouls in 3 out their first 5 games?I just don't think his presence will make a difference now!!! Imagine how the whole team must feel to know that he has been welcomed back at the end of what has turned out to be such a disappointing season. They have played through the ups and downs and have suffered with heartbreaking loss after heartbreaking loss. It's nothing more than a BIG SLAP IN THE FACE for all the players who have endured everything that has transpired this year!!I will still pick my Eagles to win 3 out their next 5 and surprise some people when they head into Regional play, but I will not Support Jesse Meeks return to the team!!!Shame on the Johnson County school board and coaching staff for letting this happen!!!
this is already a thread man.......sorrry
Good luck to thins young man and his teammates.
This hasnt been the year that the defending champs thought it would be, its been a pretty dismal up and down year for the Eagles, and with Meek getting tossed off the team at the start of the season, and now coming back at the end? And Starnes leaving after the season is over, some tough times down in Johnson county.
That's a joke. So how long before he is back in the startin line-up.
Really don't think this is fair to the other players. Why let him come back so late in the season? Sounds like some serious problems at Central.

If Meeks is not starting soon he'll probably quit.....Smile

If the principal (or anyone else for that matter) forces Starns to start Meeks then Strans will probably quit....Smile

IT IS A WIN WIN............

I don't think either one should have been allowed to return. This is just an embarrassment to all of the 15th region. Johnson Central playing politics like this makes us all look bad.

It hasn't helped when every decision made by the staff is scrutinized on here by people who don't have the whole story. These forums are fun to read, but shouldn't be taken seriously because for the most part the players and coaches who are really involved aren't even the ones post this crap.

I will tell you what is really an embarassment to the 15 Region is when an adult aproaches another adult and calls him out to a "throw down session" in a public place. Talk about making a program look bad, if it could get any worse.:lmao:

If the staff takes the advice of the members on this or any other message board then they have more problems than can be cured. We all post our opinions on here and are in no way trying to tell the staff or administration how to handle the situations.

What or who might this be pointin out??
KIds will be kids. Making mistakes is part of their learning process or just growing up. If it's the best thing for this kid to play ball, so be it. If he is playing ball thats one less kid on the streets not knowing what bad choice they may make destroying their life.
Eyes on You just relax. Many people in this community have wanted to see this happen for a while. It was a fair vote after a tumultous week. All but a couple of the players were quite outspoken about welcoming him back. Can't we all just be positive for once and try and pull together and make the regional tourny. Let's just all be positive and let the kids play ball and let Coach Starns coach.
Well none of my business about the Meeks kid. But, IMO if you are going to let the players make these kind of decisions then there would be no use for adult supervision. (Coach)
Is he kin to Harry Meek ?
LOL....what a joke. I mean if the kid quit/"forced to quit" then give it a week, two at the most...if he comes back, so be it...if not then move on. Guess at this rate they thought things couldn't get much worse so what the heck ya know. You have your coach resign and didn't know what was gonna happen, then he takes it back....I guess it was only right for him to let him back if the coach quit on his team and was allowed to come back. Good luck to JC for the remainder of the season.
this is an very big emarrassment to the 57th district and the 15th region. it shows what politics makes a program looks like. just plan horrible! i belive starns nor meeks should not have been able to come back. i will give my credit to two kids in that progam that has not cause no trouble and i feel bad for both of them for all they are going through. mccarty and crum come in and work hard day in and day out and with all this junk going on you can't be focused but they find a way to be. mccarty is a great player and all this is doing is holding him back. you dont't know who your teamates or your coaches are going to be night in and night out. and i agree irish 4 this is starting to be a joke.

This is indeed a shame....so unfair to the kids that have been on the team and worked their butts off all season long....if I had a kid on the team, I'd pack my bag and transfer to another school system. I can't believe (but maybe I should) that politics have come in to play in this situation. I hate it for the entire basketball program, I know it's put a dark cloud over them. I hope things work out for the program and they get things on the right track hopefully next season.
Why don't some of you all just cry me a river. Get off Jesse's back. Everyone keeps downing him for quiting and coming back, but don't you remember who else did this!? *Cough* Starns *Cough*. It would be a shame for the administration to let Starns back as the head coach and not let Jesse have a second chance also. Stop complaining people, thats life. Jesse is a good kid, just very competitive. We all have our flaws, so stop pointing out his and think about your own! He's in highschool for God's sake, not the NBA. His problems dont need to be addressed like we are on sportscenter.

Perhaps the parent from Sheldon Clark who nearly attacked Starns in WalMart and security had to escort Starns out!! SAW IT with my own eyes!

First of all, KIDS should not be put in the position to "vote" as to whether any coach or player can come back.

JC is on a path to self destruction. They need to get a handle on things now if they want to do the most good for everyone.

Why shouldnt the kids have a say. This is for the kids. They are the one that has to play with Jesse and play for starns. The administration doesnt have to learn how to play the game from starns. or take passes from jesse. The players do. The administration didnt know how the kids would feel if starns came back. So they got there say. and also on jesse. It doesnt matter wether any of us on this board wouldnt have let them back or not because we dont play with them or for them. The players do its there decision it is made. move on hope for the best.
Good luck JC the rest of the season
Personally I dont see what the big deal is about whether he is or is not on the team. Jessie is a good ball player but he is no prodigy. I dont think if he is on the team or he isnt is gonna really make that big of a difference for thier ball club. Every one should know that it takes more then one kid to win a game, and Jessie wont make that big of a difference in the big scheme of things for the Eagles. It is simple, this year they are just not a dominating team and nothing will change that.
go get em Jesse

The point is that it is wrong to put them in that position. Do you want to be the kid that voted no? Of course you don't, because there will be so many haters out there and you will be criticized even though you're not the one who quit. It's just not fair. And if the kids are the only ones who have a say, then they don't need adults. That's flawed logic. I just hope the best for the kids and to heck with the rest.

Neither one should have been allowed to come back. Have you forgot that Meeks had 3 technical fouls in the first 5 games, how does that make JC look. It looks even worse when the kid quit because he was gonna be disciplined for his actions on the court. Starnes resigned, the admin shouldn't have let him come back. They should have let Tommy take over for the remainder of the season and just played it out, probably would have worked out better for JC that way.

That's crazy, stupid and crossin the line.
