This subject was discussed on another board. I wanted to get your thoughts. If you could redraw the district and regional lines what would you do? Here is my proposal, which would eliminate all three team districts.

12th region rotate Casey, Lincoln, and SW to where SW/Pulaski/Somerset are in the same district. 14th region swap out Perry Central and Letcher Central and swap out Owsley Co and Wolfe Co. Hard to split Jenkins off but it needs to be moved to the 15th. They can blame Floyd Central. The issue is going to become larger as I feel more consolidation in eastern KY is coming. Jenkins may be part of Letcher Central soon. Who knows.

14th region won't work, you moved Red Bird in and completely eliminated June Buchanan!

I tried this a few years ago and got stuck in regions 3-5 and did OK on the rest. I will look it over and see what you did differently. Looks pretty good. I moved the Harlan County schools to the 14th because I think you'll see some very small schools closing in the 14th.

Overlooked the JBS thing as well. Switch Perry Central and Hazard with Letcher Central and JBS and the 13th-16th is good to go.

Now if the rumors of Fairview's closure and consolidation with Boyd Co come to pass then a Domino effect of changes effecting multiple regions would have to take place for your new alignment to remain.

*Lawrence Co moves back to the 16th.
*Sheldon Clark moves to the 57th
*Pike Central moves to the 60th
**Letcher Central moves to the 15th/ 59th district with Jenkins
*Riverside moves to the 53rd
*Wolfe Co to the 55th
**Jackson Co moves to the 14th/ 56th with Estill, Powell, and Lee Co's

If Rose Hill were to also drop from district play then the 16th would need 2 teams and things get really interesting.....Like:
*Mason Co and Maysville St. Patrick to the 16th region making the new 63rd district with Fleming and Lewis Co's
*Morgan Co moves to the 61st
*Boyd Co moves to the 62nd
*Russell, Raceland, Greenup Co, and Ashland make up the 64th.

There are a ton of changes that could cause re-alignments. I honestly see the day coming very soon where the current regional setup has top be re-drawn due to consolidation in some areas (Floyd Central for example) and new schools in others (FDHS in Fayette Co for another).

Who knows what might happen .

With so many consolidations it's way past time to do away with districts and district tournaments. Why not start with a seeded regional tournament? When the current structure began, decades ago, it wasn't uncommon to have 12 teams in a district.

If you move Jackson County into the 56th with Estill, Powell and Lee.....where are you moving present 56th member Owsley County? Owsley has been in the 56th for decades and is a natural geographic rival of Lee County, which is only 10 miles on route 11 from their school.
