While I may agree with you at the moment because "to be the man, you have to beat the man" and as Wayne County proved last season, they are the best in this district until proven different. These standings are based purely on an unbiased metric in wins/losses.

If Carton for Knox is out for the year, it's a two team race. Carton is the difference maker for KC.
And Wayne and Knox both have to come to rock

Same schedule we played last year.
I always hate this argument. Teams make their schedules 3 years in advance. Heck 17 and 18 contracts are mostly signed. Who knows what teams will do in that period.
Think of the changes in coaches for the teams Wayne has on their schedule.
Bottom line is all paths must pass through Mt Vernon. Wayne is a really good team. No shame in losing last night. One of several plays could have changed the outcome. Much the same as the playoff game with rock last year. As far as Knox goes, Wayne is still "the man!" I would bet Rock and Wayne play for the chance to face JC in November!

Any one of three teams can play for a shot at JC. I would not bet against any of Knox, Wayne or Rock.
Clay County needs to pattern their program building after what Coach Thompson and his staff have done at Wayne County. Similar situations, basketball schools traditionally. Follow that blueprint!

By Rock defeating Clay and Wayne defeating Russell County, Wayne is now guaranteed District Runner-up. (Barring a massive upset or two by teams they defeated).
Interestingly, Knox Central can ONLY finish 1st or 3rd. To win district they must defeat Rock on the road AND Corbin at home in back-to-back games. If they lose either (or both) of these games, they finish third. Win both and they win the district in a tie breaker.
Wayne County basically has two weeks to prepare for their opening round opponent because they are guaranteed 2nd in District.
