The 2015 Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl State Football Finals are slated for Houchens Industries/L.T. Smith Stadium on the campus of Western Kentucky University the weekend of December 3-6. The tentative schedule for the event has the games scheduled as follows (All times Central):

Friday, Dec. 4th
1A; 11 AM, 2A; 2:30 PM, 6A; 6 PM

Saturday, Dec. 5th
3A; 11 AM, 4A; 2:30 PM, 5A; 6 PM

In the event that Western Kentucky University would earn the right to host the Conference USA Championship game the same weekend as the Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl, the schedule of games for the state football finals would have to be adjusted as follows:

*Thursday, Dec. 3rd
1A; 7 PM
*Saturday, Dec. 5th
6A; 5 PM, 5A; 8 PM
*Sunday, Dec. 6th
2A; 1 PM, 3A; 4 PM, 4A; 7 PM

*The alternative schedule is subject to change as the final start time for the C-USA Championship game will be dictated by television scheduling.

“We have met with WKU on multiple occasions these past three years reviewing scheduling alternatives in the event of WKU hosting this great event. Should Coach Brohm and his Hilltoppers earn the right to host the conference championship game, all involved entities, the KHSAA, the City of Bowling Green and Western Kentucky University are prepared to make our championship the best experience for the student-athletes and simultaneously, give the Toppers their venue for this super opportunity,” said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. “Our staff has experienced this type of changeover mid-event before, even as recently as the 2013 Boys’ state basketball tournament when we worked cooperatively with the University of Kentucky and Rupp Arena to handle a nationally televised UK/Florida game in the middle of our event.

“We will know the schedule of the state finals prior to the kickoff of the semifinals and be fully prepared to make any necessary adjustments. Thankfully, the member schools are accustomed to determining final schedules at the start of each week of the playoffs, so we know they will be able to adapt, as will our event staff and the great staff at WKU.”

Tickets to the games are sold in a six-game package through the KHSAA, and single-game tickets will be available at each participating school following the semifinals, as well as through Ticketmaster.com.n-bowl/
Congrats on making the 1A State Championship! You have less time to prepare and no one will be there!

I'm a little let down that this would be their solution. Just push it back a week. Have it be the usual 2 day affair and everyone is happy.

With that said, Go Herd!
Don't worry won't happen. The Herd gets revenge this year.
WKU is going bowling. Indiana and LSU ruined any plans of busting into any of the New Years 6 bowls, even if they were to beat Marshall.

Win C-USA and go to something like the Little Caesars Bowl or be runners up and go to the GoDaddy.Com Bowl (which I have no idea if those are the ones, but that caliber).

As my grandpa used to say 'Six in one, half a dozen in the other' . But, I can't say that for the two finals schedules. I hate saying this, but GO HERD.
You know what? Forget I ever said that, the Sweet 16 runs from Wednesday to Sunday every year and it's a great time. Surely Thursday-Sunday will be for this.

Go Tops.

Now that is one thing that will not happen that weekend. Go tops!
There will still be huge logistic problems besides the start time.
Hope the HS players get free admission to the game. Would make a great weekend for those there.
That's garbage

UK has turf now. Make it happen.

WKU sucks and is a 4 or 5 hour drive for some teams. Get it out.
No reason Commonwealth Stadium or Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium doesn't host the state finals every year.

Both are more centrally located and the facilities are much better than WKU.

I agree BUT what will they want in exchange for hosting?
Will attendance really be that much larger?
Western is great size to host the games.

It's not the attendance.... it's more of the travel.

According to googlemaps.com

Mayfield to PJCS is 224 miles.
Mayfield to CWS is 265 miles.

Belfry to PJCS is 235 miles.
Belfry to CWS is 167 miles.

Mayfield and Belfry are about as far as you can get West to East and still be in the Commonwealth.
224 miles from Mayfield to PJCS and 235 miles from Belfry to PJCS is about as equal as you can get.

Even though I HATE loserviille, PJCS is the best site for the state finals.
Big Stadium.
Turf field.
Plenty of hotels/restaurants for teams & fans.
Centrally located in the state.
What about Campbellsville and/Lyndsay wilson?
