It's rather amusing to listen to some of the Bluebird faithful pontificate about how superior the program was under Mueller (and still is) in Northern Kentucky. However, one need only look at the watered down demographic of their main competition year after year to understand that there may not be such a wide discrepency in talent after all. It's hard to ignore the fact that when Holy Cross entered into the mix, CCH's program took a hit in talent. So, the talent gap may not be as wide as many Birdbrains believe.
What is your point? Highlands has owned them. How do you explain the gap?
Take the Holy Cross program out of the mix and you have no dynasty in Fort Thomas.... The rivalry would be much better and the titles more than likely would have been split over the past several years. There is the pre Holy Cross CCH team and the post Holy Cross CCH team. Night and day IMO
better comparison would be the pre bussing from Ohio to post bussing from Ohio effect for Holy Cross:hilarious:
Highlands is just in the heads of the Cov Cath psyche. It seems to me that Cov Cath was beat before they even stepped onto the field against HHS last week. It was incredible how they just did not show up to play.

I don't think Holy Cross or Brossart impact Cov Caths football program at all. No one whose primary sport is FB is going to attend either one of thos schools. NCC might compete more for payers than those two.
I'm lost. How does Cov Cath losing all the time to Highlands make Highlands win more state titles. How would them not being there to lose those games cause them to split more state titles.
Interesting conjecture. Would be interesting to know what players HC has picked up that would probably have gone to CCH over the years. Are those players better than the ones that have been on the field for CCH in that time?

Politics play a huge role in a lot of kids decisions to go to HC instead of CCH. The culture at CCH is not the most inviting for some kids and many choose to take their talents to 1A. It's Cov Cath's loss, literally.

Most of the Holy Cross kids come from Independence.

By the way how has that been working out the last three years?I don't think CovCath lost much.

actually, it's pretty even between Independence and Covington.

CovCath took a bit of a hit when Holy Cross started football, as did Holmes and Dixie, but CCH's problem with Highlands is that CCH isn't pulling boys from Boone County as well as they did in years past. Also, CovCath needs more depth to keep up with the Birds

Same problem with NCC and Campbell County kids. The dynamics are quite the same for that program with the start of Bishop Brossarts football campaign. There are only so many athletes. My point in all of this is not to look for the CCH/Bird rivalry of old b/c the dynamics have changed. When the culture changes at CCH and it regains it's integrity, kids will want to play there....until then, look for the gap to widen. And Birdfans, don't give all the credit to the "program" b/c it's had alot of help from shifting democraphics in Catholic athletics.

This is a very good point about Boone Co kids.
Integrity ? So are you saying there is no integrity at CCH? Brossart football is hurting no one.
