Final. EKU lead 46-0 at the half
It was a party here in Richmond last night. Cannons going off every few minutes, big fireworks at the end of the game. Then, as the game was ending, at the corner of Lancaster and the Bypass, a police chase that started in Lexington ended in Richmond, the suspect apparently didn't live through it. Wild times all the way. My daughter was at the game and had to go a different route back to her apartment.

MSU sure likes that Division 1 money, but obviously, they have no intention of investing any in their program. No scholarships and HS caliber facilities.
RICHMOND, Ky. – On the first play from scrimmage, junior running back #Dy'Shawn Mobley# took the hand-off and ran 61 yards for a touchdown. The Eastern Kentucky University football team never looked back, cruising past Morehead State Saturday night at Roy Kidd Stadium, 55-13.

With the win, the 25th ranked Colonels are 3-0 for the first time in 22 years. EKU began the 1992 season with four straight victories.

Eastern ran for 204 yards on just 10 carries in the first quarter. Mobley had 127 of those yards, averaging 25 each time he touched the ball. EKU outgained the Eagles 225-60 in the first quarter and led 25-0 after the first 15 minutes of play.

An all-around effort from EKU helped make sure Morehead State (1-2) never made it a game. The Colonels kept a shutout until the 2:23 mark of the third quarter.

Eastern Kentucky's offense scored touchdowns on six of its first eight possessions. One of the possessions that did not end in a touchdown was capped by an #Andrew Lloyd# 32-yard field goal.

Mobley's second outburst of the night came at the 8:29 mark of the first quarter. He caught a lateral throw on the left side from quarterback #Bennie Coney#, cut back all the way across the field and was eventually tackled by Morehead State's Dominic Iori at the three-yard line. The 54-yard run set up quarterback #Jared McClain#'s touchdown to finish the Colonels' third possession. The ensuing extra point put the home squad up, 18-0.

Mobley contributed all 123 of his yards in the first quarter and had just one carry the rest of the game.

The Colonels' fullback also got into the action. Redshirt senior #Channing Fugate# ran for 56 yards on two carries, but most of those came from just one. Late in the first quarter, Fugate took a hand-off from Coney and ran 49 yards for a touchdown, diving into the left corner of the end zone in front of the student section.

Coney finished 7-of-10 for 117 yards and two touchdowns. McClain contributed a rushing and a passing touchdown to the final total. The EKU running backs stole the show, though, totaling 353 rushing yards. The Eagles managed just 60 yards running the ball.

#Jared Sanders# finished with 61 yards on eight carries and scored EKU's final touchdown.

Nine EKU players had at least one carry and eight caught at least one pass.

Morehead State quarterback Austin Gahafer completed 29 of his 49 passes for 272 yards against a tough EKU defense. Gahafer broke the shutout with a one-yard touchdown run with 2:23 left in the third quarter and then added a 22-yard scoring pass in the fourth quarter.

Twenty-seven EKU defenders recorded at least one tackle during the game.

The Colonels take to the road next Saturday to open Ohio Valley Conference play at UT Martin. Kickoff on ESPN3 is scheduled for 1 p.m. EKU will play at home again Oct. 11 at against Eastern Illinois.

NOTES
--Eastern is 3-0 for the first time since 1992.

--EKU's 46 first half points were the most points in a half since scoring 42 in the first half against Eastern Illinois on Oct. 9, 2004 in Richmond.

--Eastern Kentucky entered the game ranked fourth nationally (FCS) in rushing defense (44.0 yards per game), seventh in scoring defense (10.0 points per game) and 11th in sacks (3.5 per game). The Colonels held the Eagles to 60 rushing yards, 13 points and had one sack.

--Dy'Shawn Mobley's 61-yard touchdown run on the first play of the game was his longest run as a Colonel. The junior newcomer played at Kentucky his first two seasons.

--The announced attendance of 16,700 was the largest crowd for a home game since 2008 when 18,500 watched the Colonels host Western Kentucky on August 28.

--This is the 46th consecutive season the Colonels have played their home games at Roy Kidd Stadium. EKU is 209-48-1 all-time at the facility. Eastern is 11-3 in home openers since 2000 and has won five straight.

--This was the 72nd meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State, but just the fourth since 1995. EKU holds a 52-16-4 advantage in the series and is now 27-9-1 at home against the Eagles.

--#Joel Brown#, #Jeff Glover# and Dy'Shawn Mobley each scored their first touchdowns wearing an EKU jersey.

What a very uninformed and bad as I hate to use the word ignorant comment. Msu facilities have improved tremendously and other than improvements to the actual structure at Jayne stadium (which Kidd is pretty bad as well) it's getting better every year. Better surface by far at msu than what Eku plays on and the new phy ed building on campus is awesome. So tired of second hand comments that don't have a clue what's going on.
Eku is very good this year and the eagles are rebuilding the right way playing a lot of true freshmen. Some of those don't have to pay a dime to play and look for scholarships to be around the corner. Lots of aid at msu which helps a lot of players. Don't forget that couple years ago that if a certain referee hadn't said he blew a whistle msu would have beat Eku butt and the level of skill players then was one sided toward the eagles. Easy to comment when you get transfers from ky every year and the best player on your team is former starter from Tenn Vols run it up gut liked your comment so right there shows the company u keep. He lives in a place where 1a team can beat his 5a team by 50:hilarious:
EKU disposed of the Eagles quickly like expected. MSU moved the ball and put up a couple of touchdowns against the Colonels reserves but overall the defense played well again. It gets much tougher this week when EKU enters conference play and takes on a legit FCS team in UTM.

Talk about the ignorant comments....

Williamsburg could beat half the 5A teams in the state with a running clock this year.

As for the snide at Whitley comment, im not really sure what you meant. Its not secret that entire program is currently in shambles. Ill be the first to admit that. Currently looks better than Moreheads though...
