What is your school's claim to football fame? Is it winning x amount of state titles? Is it producing a or multiple d1 players? So what is your schools claim to fame?
Here in Mayfield it's just all about Football. We have sent many kids to college. Had 1 or 2 from here make it to NFL. I don't think of them were big in NFL. We had the second highest recruit in the nation at one time. That was second to only Hershel Walker. We are one of the top 6 winningest (I think) football teams in the nation. Then there is the 10 state titles and 19 trips to the big dance. It's odd to be in another state and have people see your attire and know exactly who your school is.
In Lawrence County it's churning out some high caliber coaches.
I have a thread about it.

First 3-peat in KYHFB History.

Article about Panther Football in People Magazine in 1988. Rumored to have inspired the title for "Friday Night Lights", a mentioned in the article. Also rumored to have been in consideration for the team to be featured in the book.

Nice article. The first varsity game I ever started was my sophomore year against the Dawgs. I had the misfortune of lining up against Phil Ratliff. He was a senior. Man was he a monster.

We've only made it to the Regional Chp. Twice, lost both.
Friday night lights is about one of the more prominent football programs in Texas. You know where football is worshipped as much as our Lord.

Believe me. I know that lol.

I am saying the title for the book came from that article and that PHs was considered along with dozens of other schools to be documented during the 1988 season and ultimately Permian was chosen. They wanted to focus on towns where football was king, successful, and in a rural area.

Awesome and Amazing!

That is something to be very proud of in my book
Boyle County is known for Chuck Smith and Five Straight.
This is totally against the norm but i think our program at Bell is know best known for producing hard working, quality young-men. Coach Mills and his coaches do a great job teaching our kids what it takes to be successful after high school and he helps them get prepared. I think that is why his players love playing for him. Winning is important for him but them being successful after is the most important thing.
Has to be what you do in the playoffs and the deepth of
