One of the best pure hitters of the game. He will be missed..
Sad news. He was one of my favorite players growing up. I rooted for the Padres just because of him.
I always loved to watch him play. Just a pure hitter and player.
Gwynn was pure class on and off the field. He will always be a legend and one of the greatest hitters ever to play the game.

I also understand he would arrive at ballparks early to spend time with the grounds crews he built friendships with over the years. The baseball world lost a great one today!
Truly one of the greatest to ever play the game of baseball.

R.I.P Mr. Gwynn.
Didn't really know much about him but the ESPN story last night was good to watch. I couldn't believe his numbers, the dude could rake as they say in baseball and sounded like from the testimonials he was one heck of a great man. Sorry I never got to watch him play.
Had no idea who this was so I look at his stats, and they're unbelievable!
He was a class act !
I got see him play in 1985. He was a class act. RIP
Tony Gwynn was one of the classiest guys in his era. Gone way before his time and he should always be thought of as one of the best hitters in MLB history.
