Anyone going to the Derby or Oaks on Friday? Will you go to a party? Watch it and who do you like to win, place, or show?

My favorite part of the strory is:

California Chrome's owners, Steve Coburn and Perry Martin, are no Kentucky blue bloods. They're a couple of working stiffs who live near Reno, Nevada.

A trainer called them "dumb asses" for getting into the racing game, inspiring the duo to put the letters DAP on their silks, which stands for Dumb Ass Partners.

"We're going to go down in history," Coburn said.

California Chrome is the product of an $8,000 mare and a $2,500 stallion. He's earned more than $1 million already, making it somewhat easier for Coburn and Martin to turn down a pre-Derby offer of $6 million for a 51 percent stake in the horse.

The " dumb asses " have done extraordinarily well on the return of their investment.

Congrats to both Steve, Perry, their families and supporters along the way!

Offer me 6 million for a horse, and its gone...
Yesterday was my first ever trip to Church Hill Downs... and Derby 140.

And it was INCREDIBLE!!!!

I'm a lifelong Kentucky Resident and I can't believe I've missed out on 28 other Derby's in my life.

We've already decided the 1st Saturday in May is booked for me and my wife from now on.

I have only been to one Kentucky Derby 1984 I was 24yr old. An after drinking maybe 10 to 12 mint julip...I foolishly bet a $100.00 to win on Gate Dancers who finish second to SWALE..Guess who won 2 week later GATE DANCERS. :truestory:
