I would rather see a consolidation to 5 classes. On travel issues and district size alone it would make more sense.
The reason why they split into six classes from 4 (besides the Trinity, X dilema) was the size between the largest school in 1A and 4A and the smallest schools in those classes were double in size. Its the same for your scenario for 5 classes as well.

Not saying its right just their justification.
I like this model. I think it brings more parity to the entire state. If you want to add anything it would be a super class that anyone could play in
IMO this would be a great scenario. I can already see the geographic advantages in 1,2, and 3 A districts and have only looked at it 5 minutes. Is there any way this could be a possibility?
Only 2 teams in 5 classes that would suffer is North and South Laurel having to drive to Lexington. I didnt realize they were the biggest schools that far south or direction. Maybe allow a few to play up or down. From their history I doubt anyone would care if they played down 3 or 4 classes.
4 Classes and a class of 8 man football.

Why we don't still make that an option, I have no idea. Better yet, why we don't enforce it, I have no idea.

Half of those schools in Class A have never been relevant in the overall landscape and truth be told, they never will.

Before anybody takes that the wrong way, I love our small schools. LOVE. Fact is, it's just hard for them when it comes to bodies.

8 man football is still big in several states. Huge as a matter of fact. Heck, even 6 man is. Talk about fast and fun!! I've watched numerous games/highlights on youtube of 8 man and 6 man.

Another poster said it...the reason we have 6 classes is b/c of the VAST dispartiy b/t the smallest in 1A and the biggest in 1A. It's not perfect, far from it. While I don't like 6 classes, I understand why they do it.
Personally I like the four class system. Not taking anything away from the teams who have won state championships in the six class system, but winning a state championship in a four class system is more of an accomplishment in my opinion.
I like 6 classes, it gives more a chance that never would have a chance.
6 classes has enabled several programs across the state to develop that were previously buried.
Sorry full deck, I forgot you asked me to post what the five class would be.
The post above is pretty much what it would look like numbers wise.

Ill get a thread on what I think would work best in a little while.

I like idea of 5 classes.
you would want to switch Highlands and Harrison. Put Highlands in with Cov Cath, Bowling Green, Collins and JH. I still think that the ole 4A system was the best.

Why not make it 20 classes?... would that be fair enough? jeez hasn't Obama made us socialist enough already?
I wish Ky had only five classes. Would make things more competitive
