Final

The Titans win their 4th straight district championship.
Collins dominated this game from start to finish. The Collins defense held North Oldham to 2 first half field goals and the offense moved the ball well both through the air and on the ground.

This win gave Collins their 4th district title in 4 years as a school. Collins is now 16-1 all time in district play, with their one loss coming in their first season by 3 at Marion County. This win also gave Collins their 40th victory as a program. The Titans will have home field advantage through the first 3 rounds of the playoffs.

This year Collins outscored district opponents 167 to 26, for an average score of 42 to 7. They have a big game to end the season next week at home against Anderson County. It will be senior night for quite a few seniors, the first class to come all the way though the Collins program.
Congrats to Collins.
Great performance by the Titans. They came out and powered the ball the first qt while not attempting a pass. Great effort by everyone but hats off to Ruan Watkins on his hard running. The D really steped up only giving up 2 FG's. Big game next week with 5A power Anderson coming to town.
Few traditions have been established at 4-year-old Collins High School. Winning district titles in football, though, has become one for the Shelby County school.

Lawson Page threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns Friday night to lead the Titans to a 35-6 victory over North Oldham at Collins, which claimed the Class 4-A District Three title. It's the fourth for the Titans (7-2, 4-0).

"That's our number one goal, to win championships," said Page, who ran for 67 yards on eight carries. "District, regional, then state."

Collins recovered two fumbles and used other North Oldham mistakes to build a 21-3 advantage in the second quarter. The Mustangs' first turnover came early in the quarter when Blanton Creque's punt took a weird bounce and brushed Jake Collins' leg at midfield as he was "sprinting to get out of the way," North Oldham coach Billy Martin said.

"That's the craziest bounce I've ever seen," Martin said.

The Titans recovered at their 48 and scored six plays later on Masai Whyte's 2-yard run. The touchdown followed an encroachment penalty against the Mustangs after Collins lined up on fourth-and-inches at the 5-yard line.

On the Mustangs' next series, they drove to the Collins' 44, but a high shotgun snap on third down produced a fumble and another Titans' recovery. Three plays later, Page found DeAndre Farris in the end zone for a 42-yard score.

Converting those fumbles into points impressed Collins coach Jerry Lucas the most. In the Titans' losses to 6-A schools Simon Kenton and Central Hardin, they held late leads only to see them slip away.

"It was really nice to go ahead and finish against a good football team and capitalize on their mistakes," Lucas said.

Page, a third-year starter, added two more touchdowns in the second half, including a 31-yard scoring pass to Nathan Sames, who finished with 99 receiving yards on five catches.

The Mustangs (6-3, 3-1) had 258 yards in total offense, but couldn't overcome the turnovers or and penalties. Brandon Peege connected on two 33-yard field goals, but that was all the scoring for North Oldham. Quinton Shea led the Mustangs with 91 rushing yards on 13 carries.

They ventured inside the Titans' 5 three times in the second half. North Oldham fumbed at the Collins' 1, only to recover a fumble on the next play. However, it led to one of two failed fourth-down conversions inside the Titans' 10.

"If it could have gone wrong, it seems like it did go wrong," Martin said.

Besides winning another district title, Collins, a state finalist last season, reached another milestone by notching its 40th victory in school history.

"We just try to execute every single play," Page said. "Our defense just played amazing. I just felt like we had an overall pretty good game. We clicked today."
