Jackson County vs. Knott Central - First meeting this season between these two...Jackson City comes in at 18-3 (14-2 Region)....Knott County Central comes in at (16-21) (11-11 Region)

Powell County vs. Leslie County - Powell County defeated Leslie County 2-1 earlier in the year @ Leslie County. Powell County comes in at 21-8 (12-3 Region)....Leslie County comes in at 25-12 (12-2 Region)

Hazard vs. Wolfe County - Hazard took all 3 games from Wolfe County this year....Hazard comes in at 26-5 (19-1 Region).....Wolfe County comes in at 14-11 (11-10 Region)

Letcher County Central vs. Owsley County - First meeting between these two this year. Letcher County Central comes in at 21-12 (11-4 Region).....Owsley County comes in at 11-9 (9-9 Region).


Letcher Central has reigned supreme over the 14th in volleyball, will that continue or will their be a new champion?

Well UKisN1, you were right on the first two games.....Jackson City defeated Knott 3-2 and Leslie defeated Powell 3-0

Semi's are set. Jackson City/Leslie....Hazard/Letcher.....Hazard/Letcher should be the region championship game..

Leslie co defeated 3-0 to advance to championship game...still waiting on word on hazard vs Letcher central.

Don't have the score but Hazard won is what I seen on twitter. So it looks like it will be Hazard or Leslie representing the 14th at state

This is the first time the 14th Region has not been represented by a Letcher County school since 1999. This also ends a streak of regional championships for LCC at 8. These are streaks that may never be broken.

Kendall Noble H.S. had a nice 6 year run in girls' bball (2007-2012). But seriously, it was kind of the same way in girls' softball when Estill County joined the 14th region, 4 consecutive regional championships (2006-2009). Then LCC and Jenkins won in '10 and '11, before Estill County won the last two. Playing field is much more competitive now. It took Estill County 8 innings to beat Powell Co. 1-0 in the district finals last season, and they defeated Jenkins 2-0 in the regional finals. In '12 Breathitt County took Estill Co. 10 innings in the regional semi-finals, before losing 5-2.

Looks as though there will be more balance in volleyball with Leslie County, Hazard, and Powell County consistently fielding competitive teams.
