COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College quarterback Branden Cresap found a wide open Chris Dobbins down the left sideline for a touchdown on the first play of overtime in a 37-30 win over visiting Faulkner (Ala.) University on Saturday at Blue Raider Stadium.
The Lindsey Wilson defense -- who had to endure 116 plays from the Faulkner offense during the game -- held the Eagles (3-2) out of the endzone in the overtime to secure the win.
No. 16-ranked Lindsey Wilson improves to 5-0 on the season with the win.
Dobbins broke free on a wheel route and Cresap hit him in stride to give the Blue Raiders their second lead of the day. The touchdown pass was Cresap's fourth toss for a score in the game.
Faulkner marched to the Lindsey Wilson one-yard line and had first-and-goal in an attempt to extend the game.
Faulkner's David Amos -- who finished with a game-high 107 yards rushing -- was stuffed on back-to-back runs up the middle. A false start pushed the Eagles back to the six-yard line and a Sam Wilson's one-yard tackle for a loss led to a fourth-and-goal final play from the seven-yard line.
Wilson, Kyle Durbin and Eric Shaw each posted nine tackles to lead the Blue Raider defense.
Faulkner quarterback Josh Hollingsworth -- who threw for 392 yards on 36-of-57 passing -- tried to find A.J. Stevenson at the back pylon, but Lindsey Wilson's Treon Hill knocked the pass down to preserve the come-from-behind win.
