RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University football team will try to return to the win column this weekend at Morehead State. Kickoff at Jayne Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The game will be broadcast for free on the OVC Digital Network.

This will mark the first game between the two teams in Morehead since 1993. Eastern and Morehead were two of the original six members of the Ohio Valley Conference that formed in 1948. However, the Eagles left the OVC in football following the 1995 season and have been a part of the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League since 2001.

The Eastern Kentucky (1-2) defense hopes to regroup after giving up season highs in total yards and rushing yards last week to No. 15 Coastal Carolina. The Colonels did force two turnovers, but allowed the Chanticleers to convert 6-of-8 (75 percent) third downs in the second half.

On offense, junior QB Jared McClain leads the team in both passing (473 yards) and rushing (164). McClain eclipsed 1,000 career passing yards last week against CCU and also rushed for a career-high 93 yards.

Morehead State (0-3) is struggling under first year head coach Rob Tenyer. The Eagles have allowed more than 60 points in two straight games, including a 69-19 loss at Jacksonville in the PFL opener last weekend. Freshman Austin Gahafer is MSU's starting quarterback and has thrown for 241 yards over two games. Safety Dominic Iori leads the team with 20 tackles.

Saturday will mark the 71st meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State, but just the third since 1995. Eastern has won seven straight in the series although each of the last two meetings have been decided by less than 10 points. The Colonels held the ball for 41:46 and limited the Eagles to nine yards rushing last year.
