BOULDER, Colo. — A man suspected in the slaying of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey nearly a decade ago was arrested Wednesday in Thailand, the district attorney said in the long-awaited breakthrough in one of the nation's most lurid unsolved murder cases.

Federal law enforcement sources identified the suspect as John Karr, a 41-year-old second grade teacher. Karr is already being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges.

A police source tells FOX News' Carol McKinley that Karr has been sending e-mails to people close to the case for the last three or four years, saying horrific things about what happened to JonBenet in her final minutes.

District Attorney Mary Lacey said the arrest followed several months of work. Both U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Thai police were involved in the arrest.

Ramsey family attorney Lin Wood said in Atlanta that the arrest was vindication for JonBenet's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, who came under suspicion in the slaying.

I saw this on the news earlier... If this is the right guy, I hope he gets the death penalty

It's really sad that the police and prosecutors put her parents and brother through accusations of this child's murder. And the media did too.
And the mother died this past June still not aware of who the killer was.

I believe that I had heard on some news report that the mother was aware of this suspect and had been assured that they would catch him.....I sincerely hope so.

Still a shame that the family had to endure years of speculations and accusations along with the pain of losing a precious child.

Yeah I seen on the news that both Patsey and John knew an arrest was pending still sad that the family was put throught hell by almost everyone. It's also a shame that it took the police ten years to make an arrest.

I agree 100%......

Now some of the news channel talking heads are saying that this guy might simply be a nut case who was obsessed with the Ramsey case, and wanted the attention he is now recieving.
