I am heading back down to Pikeville in August for the Pike County bowl. This will be my first trip back there since I spread my late sons ashes at the top of the place that allows him to see look down on the town.
That was 2010, so what all has changed?
New places to eat would help and is the hotel beside Walmart still there.

Thanks y'all.
Pikeville has grown a lot in the last 3 years, especially downtown. Lots of new stuff. New Coal Building at UPike finished, new hotel going up beside Hampton Inn, 2 new restaurant/pubs downtown that are pretty cool. You should stay at Hampton Inn and you will be able to walk to at least 3 restaurant/pubs that are downtown and stay open late. If you only are interested in going to the games there are lots of places to stay. And the motel beside Wal-Mart is still there. Also a new Texas Roadhouse down the street from it that stays packed, especially on weekends. Hope this helps.

Just noticed I missed the E in Pikeville.

Can a mode CORRECT THIS?
I agree with JP, if you want to be within walking distance of some nicer restaurants, stay at the Hampton. Parking is easy with the free garage right next to it.

The downtown restaurants include Chirico's for good Italian food, Bank 253 for nicer meals than the average sit-down place in Pikeville with nightlife after 10 or 11 on the weekends, Main Street Grille has nightlife as well and an American grill selection, and probably the nicest restaurant in Pikeville, the Blue Raven.

Here are some links to the restaurants:

Like JP also said, Texas Roadhouse is a huge addition. A ton of People go there all the time. Steak n Shake is in the Walmart area as well, not sure when it opened, but it was fairly recently. There are a couple new Giovanni's Pizza places, one in Coal Run and one next to the Landmark.
Which shopping center is the sports store in that has the school shirts?

I need to grab a couple of new ones.

Belfry and Besty Layne for sure.
Wal-Mart actually has all the local teams shirts.

Pikeville Sporting Goods near the Landmark would have some. Mostly PHS, SV, ER, and PC. Walmart as well.
Thanks for all the help.

Is there a place on the way down to Pikeville (near Besty Layne) that I can grab one of their shirts?
Have a safe trip in, maybe I'll see ya at one of the games.
I posted this on the football forum also.

Are there any updates on the games?

The K.H.S.A.A. page only has three games listed.
Still the same games, just haven't listed yet.

But they are going to happen.
Shelby Valley is hosting the Pike Co Bowl as well , they are playing August 30th vs Paris. Not sure who plays in the 1st game yet.
Are the games only Friday and Sat or will they add Thursday to the schedule?
I read earlier in the year that the three day format was a go.
I got my reservation at the Hampton Inn.
Was the only place in Pikeville I could find a room.
^Have a safe trip and enjoy the games my friend.
Not long from leaving.

Got a vip/media pass

Plan on posting a game report for at least two of the games.

Will have them up sometime Sunday when I get back to Ohio
