I attended 2 different graduations over the past few weeks.

While attending a graduation in Ohio a student , valedictorian was giving a speech and was thanking god for everything she had achieved. The audio manager unplugged her and they escorted her to her seat. This was followed by booes and people shouting about freedom of speech.

Today at the Sheldon Clark graduation , they started off by saying prayer by pastor Greg crum. Then followed by every student that gave a speech talking about how much they thanked god as there savior got them through everything.

As most of you know I'm not the highest Christian on the board. But I think it's great that sheldon Clark still has the guts to do this. They have the 10 commandments on the football field and in the high school. It astonished me how They done the student in Ohio.

While I think no one should be forced to believe in God. I also believe that this nation was formed under God. Hence in the pledge of allegiance. And many other great American historic documents.

Just wanted to express my opinion. This was done on my phone. Sorry for the errors.

I see nothing wrong with an opening prayer at these functions. I went to two, and at both, students opened and closed with a prayer. Students praying aloud is perfectly legal as far as I know. I don't know about adults praying at school functions, though. For people that don't pray, they could just show respect, and use this as a time to look down and check and see if their shoes are dirty, or that they haven't stepped in something. Smile

The "under God" part was added in 1954, well after the founding of our country. The original pledge went like this,

I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Written by Francis Bellamy in 1892.

The version congress recognized from 1942 until 1954 was,

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Maybe Ohio was trying to divert from some legal issues, dunno.
Well done Sheldon Clark...

Generally speaking liberals have made greater advances in some of the more populace areas. The only difference between Columbus, Ohio let's say, and Inez, Kentucky (other than a greater ratio of fast cars per capita, lol) are the number of liberals on the respective school boards and school administration.

The cause and effect of church membership is glaring in this and other cases. In Inez where God is still honored and feared, folks act with the traditional constraints which have characterized American behavior for decades. In Ohio, where the dems have managed to move the public opinion toward the liberal argument, not so much. It's a shame to see it happen but, the greater shame is when Christians see it happen and don't respond. The enemy of state, liberalism in this case, must be met with great resistance by the church.

While liberals and democrats hide behind the principles of freedom of speech and equality, they are busy limiting those very rights for the majority. Valedictorians should be able to thank God publicly. And yet, they are being denied this basic right. The political environment is fast changing toward one of state control. Homosexuality is uplifted, even to the point of one such man getting a personal phone call from this very busy president for lending credibility to the liberal cause by coming out of the closet. While serving God is policed by that same government and offending Valedictorians are stopped mid-speech and escorted off the stage to their seat. As I have said over and over, this is not about equality, this is about limiting the rights of those who live quiet productive lives and espouse traditional values. Meanwhile, those who oppose moral behavior seek to mutate the land into some kind of morally unbridled night land, where abortions are noble pursuits, people don't have to work if they don't want to and homosexuals are the new elite. Don't let anybody tell you this fight is about equality, this is a war between good and evil and as long as the good sits on their collective hands, evil will continue to make great strides.

It's either the end of time, or at the minimum, it's the end of America. We are half way through an 8 year period of "fundamental transformation." Anybody who loves God, their family and their country should be greatly concerned if not actually terrified. 2014 is our next milestone.
Well, I just returned from attending Henry Clay's graduation that was held on Saturday. Kudos to them for the speed in which that ceremony had!! I dearly hate graduation ceremonies!! I wasn't at Harlan City's long enough to find a complaint! Harlan County's was lengthy, but they get the award for the best music! Wow, Hannah Busroe and Anna Jo Creech had the whole gym on their feet with their rendition of "Lean On Me". I am going to sorely miss those girls next year when it's time to sing the National Anthem. Harlan County's was the only one that started and ended in prayer. Harlan City's may have, and I missed it. Henry Clay's ended in prayer.

Congratulations graduates!!!
