Hensley no-hits West Virginia state champs

ASHLAND â Sophomore Megan Hensley fired a no-hitter and just missed a perfect game as Ashland edged West Virginia defending state champion Wayne 1-0 on Monday night.
Hensley retired 21 consecutive batters after issuing a game-opening walk.
She finished with 16 strikeouts and also scored the gameâs lone run after hitting a single to lead off the sixth.
With two outs, the Kittens loaded the bases as Sydney Cullop singled and Jordan Meade was hit by a pitch. A Wayne error on Sydney Campbellâs grounder to short allowed Hensley to cross the plate.
Hensley and Sydney Whitt each went 2-for-3 as Ashland improved to 13-7.
The Kittens play host to West Carter tonight.
