The head of the Kentucky State Police is stepping down at the end of the month.
Mark Miller announced today that he will leave the post effective June 30th. He has served as state police commissioner since March 2004.
Miller said state police has seen increases in pay, manpower and equipment during his tenure. He added that it is the right time for him to retire so he can pursue job opportunities in Louisville.
Miller worked as a U-S attorney for the western district of Kentucky before taking office.
Justice Secretary Norman E. Arflack will serve as interim state police commissioner until a replacement can be named
