The 8th grade state tournament will begin on Friday night at KBA in Lexington. Southern Pulaski will return to defend their championships. They won their sixth grade and seventh grade state championships and will try for the sweep and win three in a row.

Who else is coming?

Who will be able to compete with the Southern Pulaski Warriors?
When will they post the schedule?? I have been checking the KBA website for game times, but nothing has been posted yet.
Brackets should be online tomorrow
Thanks Coach
Southern Pulaski is the hands down favorite. Out of the others I've seen, I'd put Knox County, Corbin, Northern Pulaski, and maybe even Lincoln County in the 2nd tier of teams in the state. Wouldn't be surprised to see at least 3 out of these teams in the final four.
Where can we find the draws for the tournament?
Does anyone know all the teams that are in the tournament yet.
Any local teams playing in the state tournament. Belfry got told we play at 2 on friday. Wonder if they gave us a 8th seed like in football.
The schedules will be posted at http://www.playkba.com.
For the seventh grade the schedule was posted prior to lunch on Tuesday.
The first two games are pool games and the results of those games will determine your seeding.
Playing at 2:00 on Friday is unlikely.
The games typically do not begin until about 5:30 on Friday, but there may be so many teams, they have to start early.
In the 7th grade, there were about 20 teams with 2-0 records coming out of the pool play. So some undefeated teams were number 1 seeds and some were number 5 seeds.
The 7th grade championship game was between a number 1 seed and a number 4 seed.
Scott Co had a good year that may carry over into the tourney. Gray from NKY will be competitive.
Brackets are out on the KBA website.

Some of those undefeated teams didn't play a pool game due to forfeits. There was a two seed who would have not won a game otherwise.
Any local teams have a chance of winning the tournament? I might try to swing by and catch a few games.
Jackson City? Anyone know anything about them? Breathitt County?
I didn't see Wayne Co. on the schedule. Are they not going to the tournament?
The most competitive basketball will be played on Sunday when the field is cut to the final eight.

Lexington Christian should do well this weekend.
Not sure about the other Lexington teams.

Jackson City was very good last year. Not sure how good they are this year.

Knox County won the BCI State Tournament last weekend in Knott County. They will one team to watch.

The KBA seeds based on win/loss record in pool play and then it goes by fewest points allowed to seed teams with similar records.
Wayne was primarily 7th graders. I imagine they felt they couldn't compete with the elite 8th grde teams in the stae with their group.

No, Gray played Rowan Co. in a scrimmage because the team that they were going to play couldn't make it tonight.
Ockerman beat Hopkinsville by three. Very good game.
There is a Southern Middle listed in the brackets and they are from Lexington. S. Pulaski are the defending champions.

The team they were to play(R W COMBS) did not show up, so Southern's score is listed as 40-25 due to forfeit. Southern Pulaski played Edmonson County and the final score was about 64-31.

Edmonson was a small scrappy bunch. They did not have any bigs, but they hung with Southern Pulaski for much of the first half, before Southern's size wore them down and they pulled away.
Southern Pulaski's Butt, Cromer and Dykes all had big games.
Any info on 14th region teams?
Hazard, AB Combs, Whitesburg, and Jackson City all won. Wolfe County won by forfeit. Sebastian lost. RW Combs lost by forfeit. This is all according to the KBA website.
Someone said Cromer for South Pulaski drove to the game?
Any word on Whitesburg?
Just got word that Knox beat Belfry 59-43
